So, bought some Boric Acid, mixed it 50% with sugar... Nothing happened, one(!) ant came out to check it, then I realised "Hey, maybe I forgot something?" Yep, water. I mixed it with water to create a nice "syrup" - TA-DAA! They came out in hundreds and hundreds!!! They ate for about 1 hour, and then dissapeared... Now, 3 days later... No ants whatsoever. I have left Zuco, strawberry jam and sugar mixed with water just to see if they are all gone. NOT ONE SINGLE ANT!! :)

And all it cost me was 3 pesos, how about that??

Thanks to all of you who suggested Boric Acid - it workes like a charm!

I bought it at Farmacia Paris on Yaxchilan. Its just across the road from the hotel at the roundabout next to 100% natural.

    10 grams for 3 pesos! :)

I know where your ants went. And it serves me right for bragging that I don't have any ants...they moved into my kitchen about 2 days ago. Not too many but any is too many.

    RG: Haha :)

Well, still no ants and I have helped most of the neighbors, so maybe we have a "eco-friendly" business idea going here..? ;)

I could charge half of what the thieving fumigator does and people wouldnt have to inhale poison.

Allready helping out some friends with their timeshares and holiday rentals. :)

Acido Borico. It costs 3 pesos for 10 grams at the parmacy mentioned above.

Mix it 50-50 with sugar and add water to create a syrup. Mix it well - the less sugar grains, the better.

I did one batch of 5mls of each and then the water.

Give a couple of days just to be sure :)

I found 3 nests and placed it outside all three of them... man, had no idea that there were soooo many ants!!

    Rawkas,

is the boric acid out on the shelves? Or is it behind the pharmacy counter for some reason? I went there but didn't see it.

    thanks!
