that was me ,first day fell in front of TTR ,resort doctor said it was sprained , gave me high powered meds , got home now i sit with my cast with a fractured foot ,what the hell still had fun
Haven't written a trip report (can't be arsed) , but just ask if there's anything you want to know, apart from it's gorgeous and we were spoiled rotten and we are going back in September! :daisy:
About 10-16 people were bumped this past weekend to Desire due to an oversold situation at TTR. We were not asked but if we were we had decided to say no due to a couple concerns. Maybe you can fill us in on these fuzzy areas so we can decide if it is right for us if the opportunity presents itself in the future... 1. Nakedness - what % is naked by the pool? It is optional right? We are not sure if we will do what the natives do or want to keep the clothes on. Jen wears so little (Wicked Weasel) so not sure it matters but Kyle isnt ready to 'let it fly free' - what other spots are without clothes? Not at dinner right? At the events at night? 2. How much of an upgrade are the rooms? Is it just general cleanliness and that the room is newer. What amenities stand out? 3. Booze and Food. Was the quality of booze a significant difference? For example, did they have Grey Goose? Did they have sugar free red bull? We are going if they have those Any other example of an upgraded liquor you experienced? Same question with food. 4. Pool party. We love the day time pool party and had always heard Desire = crazy nights. TTR = crazy days. Was this true? I think the discomfort with the nakedness is what stops us. Maybe some day we will be more comfortable but not ready yet.
Ok. Bear with me here as having to type this on my rubbish phone! We have been to both Desire and Pearl. At Desire poolside was 99% naked. Pearl maybe 75%. Suprised us so many kept 'em on! Rooms. Not new but bigger. No gamble with "will I get a double bed or a quiet room". Service everywhere was exceptional. Staff bend over backwards for you. Food like the Italian at TTR and better but don't need to book. Can't tell you about Grey Goose. I would guess yes. We drink Malibu. Proper job here. And wine. Choice of 2 whites, Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc as house wine. Pool is quiet in the day. Party starts around 4pm at the Jacuzzi. Everyone dresses for dinner (not necessarily for lunch). Gents have to be smart in the posh restaurants. Ladies sexy (even see through but elegant). Disco anything goes! Usually to a theme. I got to wear my infamous "chain outfit"!!! HaHa. Hope this helps a bit. People are lovely. It's expensive so no idiots. We love it!!:daisy:
Yes, they have Grey Goose and would automatically reach for it when we ordered our vodka/soda's. The food omg the food! was fantastic. So was the service. Sort of crazy nites yes but small, sometimes only 6-10 people in the hot tub. More mellow than crazy, but certainly lots to watch. Not TTR crazy, can't even compare it really. You may be surprised at how quickly you get used to the nakedness, I did and didn't care at all after the first day. My hubby kept his swim shorts on, I wore my TTR attire which is not much more than some string, and we didn't feel out of place. It's soooo relaxing there, just what we needed to end our vacation after 11 non-stop days at TTR. This was Pearl we were at, apparently the MR Desire is more action packed and a younger crowd.
Thank you both for the info. This definitely paints a clearer picture. Maybe in the fall we will add two nights on the end of our TTR trip and try it out.
One thing I forgot to mention is that I didn't see any nudity in any restaurants. Women wore their cover ups and men shorts and t shirts for breakfast and lunch. Dinner at the ala carte people wore dresses and long pants. And best if all, no reservations were required.
We endorse everything GoGoBlanco say. We only had 2 nights at Desire Pearl and loved it. Guests and staff were very friendly. The whole naked thing was very liberating and no big deal. We didn't feel pressured to get naked and didn't feel out of place when we weren't (the first hour or so!). We will definitely return probably as a 50/50 option with TTR.
We didn't dress for lunch LOL. Just a small Daddy O's wrap each (for hygeine bums on seats reasons only). No issue with boobies for lunch! :daisy:
