We found this to be true in November. We've had the credit card for years but it now only applies to domestic. We convinced AA to give us free bags on the way down, but at the AA counter in CUN, they wouldn't budge. They even pulled out a document with the "fine print" from the credit card showing that it is domestic only. I think it has always been domestic only with the credit card, but it didn't really matter before April, as they didn't charge for the first bag when flying in and out of Mexico. I had the same problem with AA when going into Alaska. Even though we booked on AA, they put us on Alaska Air for one leg. Made us pay for bags, because the AA credit card wasn't accepted.
united also started charging for the first bag to mex if you didn't book with their CC. in oct i didn't get charged for the first bag cuz i book with my united card, but my friend who also booked united and didn't get charged in past trips to mex with them got dinged both ways, even though when she booked it said they were free. when she asked at the airport they told her it had changed in june and she had to pay up even though they never notified her of the changes. they keep changing all the rules on baggage...sucks of course.....cc
Yes we just got back from a cruise and they charged us on the bags. We normally fly 1st class and they don't charge for bags. We had the kids with us and they said it was new this year.
I know with Air Canada and West Jet....Canadian military get 2 or 3 bags for free. Even with the new rules. So hubby takes 2 bags and I take none. LOL Maybe some of the US companies have a perk for US military.
