We get those type of comments all the time.. we left the cancun hotel zone once and as the cab left the hotel zone we noticed it was heavily guarded and protected by the military.. the hotel area provides a substantial portion of the city's revenue.. that area is strongly protected.. i feel safer there than certain places back home
I'm a hairdresser and you can only imagine when my clients ask me where I go and say Mexico. "OH my GOD! Aren't you scared! " I'm getting really sick of it
The hotel already sold out in most of April, tell them yep very very scary place to be. Lol More room for us and with a little luck better more reasonable rates. I sure hope TTR is listening.............reading and taking notes.
We had friends robbed in cancun hotel safe ripped off the wall!!!! Bad luck. Bet that happens every day in your back yard too!! GLENN
Crime happens, but i feel alot safer walking the streets in cancun unarmed, then i did while on patrol in Springfield, ma walking through a apt complex armed.
lol I get that at work sometimes when I bring up the fact we go every year.. we've personally never had an issue and as stated above crime can happen anywhere you go..
No one who comes to Cancun goes home thinking it is unsafe. So, it goes without saying that anyone who thinks it is unsafe has never been here and therefore has no experience to speak from.
Its so scary and intimidating that i've been there 11 times and April and I have been to TTR 5 times..I dont know why we go back because all we do is stay in our room and look out of the peephole the whole time waiting for the cartel to come shake us down...
We get that "You're really going to Mexico again?" all the time. We respond with, "Not to the border, we fly right over all that and land in the party!" They don't get it, and don't really try to get educated so they can understand. They just shake their heads and think we are crazy and are going to die. They are right, of course. We are crazy, but not for that reason. And, we are going to die, but not because we're having more fun than should be legal over and over and over again!
You can find crime no matter where you are and as others have said there are some places in the Old home town I wouldn't go after midnight no matter how much I was paid....I have to say that I encountered some very friendly people on the bus on the way to Market 28 unlike the circus I've encountered on the public transit system here
