Hey you stole my thunder. I’ve been thinking of a way to nicely say it without offending folks but couldn’t word it. Was trying something about sore or bruised tounsils. But you beat me to it in a much nicer way!
My wife has got the runs there a couple of times but I have never got sick at Temptation. But I am lucky I almost never get sick. I have never stayed the night in the hospital since leaving when I was born and I have been sick enough to call off of work only 3 time in my entire career. It drives my wife crazy wondering why she gets sick but I never do.
I think it's completely hit or miss...I am usually the healthy one, have never been sick at TTR & almost never get sick in general! Just got back a few days ago and I am certain I had food poisoning this past trip. Woke up in the middle of the night w nausea, stomach cramps, & eventually vomiting. 100% not alcohol-related, I've had enough hangovers to know the difference! I had the chills in the middle of the night and my husband said I felt very hot. I sent him to the pharmacy for Zofran but it was like $112 so they suggested something else that was cheaper. It helped with nausea/vomiting, but still lost what felt like 2 days of our trip! This was my first issue in 5 years though. My husband has had a respiratory infection since the day before coming home which was this past Monday; although, he generally almost always comes home sick from there. Usually, he has the runs for 1-2 wks after coming home, so maybe a cold isn't all that bad lol.
HA! I read this one wrong and thought it said "AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO BECOMES HOMESICK?" And my answer is HELL YES YOU ARE! Practically everyone else forgets they even have a home someplace a LOT less fun. There are so many tears shed in the van on the way back to the airport I'm surprised they don't cover the seats in plastic for the comfort of the guests just arriving. My bad! lol
Stayed in Bash, our bathroom had mold and behind the beds were filthy (noticed as we were packing up to leave and checking for missing articles). Room smelled of cigarettes, ewwww. Not the best quality rooms and I am guessing between that whole mixture it probably contributed to my upper respiratory infection. I travel quite a bit so am used to flying and generally don’t get sick from planes. Either way, we had a great time and it was an experience for sure, it was our first time at Temptations.
We had stomach issues the first 2 1/2 days not sure what the cause of that was. then we get home with sore throat and sinus infection we stayed in bash tower and there was mold and mildew on the wall paper but other than that had a great time I guess with the humidity and the ac it just can't be helped we also had to take some work papers with us and they were wet filling and hard to write on. But you would think with 1 yr the rooms wouldn't have been that disgusting
We load up on Emergen-C and probiotics for about week before, during, and after each trip. There's always a little GI stuff, but it's Mexico+different foods/prep+drinking+drinking+drinking, so to be expected. I also bring a travel sized can of Lysol and spray the A/C and all surfaces, including the bed, as soon as we get there. Seems to work. As others have said, it's a lot to do with the plane more so than the resort. But the salt in the air also contributes to the respiratory gunk.
We were at TTR in Late June til July 6th. Don't remember being sick at that time but... On August 2nd we went to another resort way north of TTR. The cab driver jokingly call the area Nuevo Cancun. The resort Villa Del Palmar Cancun was beautiful with food and restaurants 10 times better than TTR. Large pools, but the same crappy beach and sea weed as TTR. Jill and our daughter both came home feeling ill. Both ended up with some kind of upper respiratory crap. It lasted more than a week for both. Wife ended up on antibiotics and my daughter suffered her way through it. It was 11 days for them to recover. It's not just TTR with this stuff. Oh and my daughters friend and myself never got any of it. Weird.
