If you are a USAA member by chance you can get travel insurance from them. They don't actually underwrite it but deal with a company that does. We have been USSA members for over 20 years
USAA is a great idea, I also took Reddog68's idea and received a quote from AMEX that I'm using to pay for trip. Will call USAA today and see if cheaper. Appreciate all the information, this site is awesome !!
Travel Insurance is compulsory with UK Travel agents, that's the reason for the Terms and Conditions. Also they are supposed to sell only to Brits hence the UK resident thing. However, lots of non UK folks use them and I'm not aware of any recent problems. Please use the Cancuncare link that you find every time >> Alpharooms << is mentioned as I'll get credited with a little commission if you do
Steve, So do I qualify for the Alpharooms travel insurance? I saw this thread earlier and freaked. I sent them an email to cancel my insurance portion because of that T&C. I would rather that I am covered, since it came out to be less than a quote from USAA. But maybe it wasn't a proper comparison since I'm guessing Alpharooms may not cover the airline portion since I booked that separately. This is my first attempt at using Travel Insurance so forgive me if I sound like an idiot.
I'm no expert. No, I would think you are not covered by any travel insurance Alpharooms offers since it is a UK company offering a service for for UK residents. I would always recommend people book travel insurance wherever you are from, but booking a UK insurance policy when not a UK resident is probably not a good idea. You'd need to check the T&C of the insurance policy to be sure, but I doubt you'd be covered.
Hey Steve- Referenced CancuneCare.com on Alpharooms website as my source of information....glad to hear you get some credit and commission.
