Spotted in another thread but I thought it was so significant it deserves highlighting . . . TGM has quietly changed the wording on its website from "The resort offers a jacuzzi and a pool area that are au naturel " to "The resort offers an exciting au naturel Jacuzzi Lounge and a topless optional pool area" This is a HUGE change. Many people, including us, bought into the whole TGM concept as being another Desire. In fact, that was precisely how they sold it to us, and part of the reason we spent $0000's on Premier membership. We enjoy nudism, as do most who go to a Desire Resort, whether they themselves are nude all, part or none of the time. It's a massive part of the vibe. And like so many others, we want to sunbathe naked. I imagine the company has been pressured into the change by conservative types in the DR, because this was definitely NOT what was sold to us, and NOT what their original website said. But surely they would have had clearance beforehand, before investing countless millions? And what about party nights? So many of the outfits at Desire are topless, for example, and sometimes more daring than that. Will such outfits be banned because they cannot be worn to dinner, or in a bar, or walking around the resort? Seems like an almighty balls-up, as they say here in the UK.
The downstairs pool is topless optional. The upstairs pool is full nudity. I’m sitting here naked typing this. It’s not really a jacuzzi as it’s more a pool with a bar
Thanks Duncan, and hope you're having a good time. How big is the upstairs pool (can't seem to find any pics of it)? Just wondering if it's a realistic option to spend the days there, and how many sunbeds etc, or if it's more of a token gesture for just a handful of people.
This was definitely not the case when we were there last week. It was definitely full nude and we confirmed at reception when we checked in. We were told that the only place that you need clothes on is the reception area ... although I imagine this applies for the restaurants too.
The upstairs pool is incredible. Yes, it's more of a pool than a jacuzzi and it's far bigger than a backyard pool and there's more than enough sun beds. At night it fills with people, but I imagine it's nice and chill during the day. It's also a play area so no photos. The beach is really something special and is one of the reasons to go there ... especially if comparing to Temptation Cancun.
