I am a Canadian Whisky lover ...Always grab a bottle in the duty free on the way down. Never had any problems. The whisky they offer is Seagrams LTD ...frankly better than nothing but pretty bad by comparison (I am not here to slam the resort but Mexico in General does not embrace this kind of whisky at all)...if you are a premium member you can get regular Crown Royal. You can find bourbon and Scotch but a good Rye.... not so much. That said... I also bring along an insulated travel mug...and fill it in my room with whisky in the morning when I head over to the sexy pool...I go to the bar and just ask for ice or mix and pour a little over ice and glide through the day.
OK...they have a duty free shop immediately after immigration. .and before you get your bags and proceed through customs.. Patron is high priced or hard to find.. 1800 is usually there... as a straight up on the rocks tequila drinker....Buy Corralejo.. the BEST tequila no one knows about....tall Blue bottle ..usually about 30 US for the ONE Liter size.. or sometimes on sale for 2 for 50 US.....Or they have some for sale across the street from TTR.. usually higher there. you are good for one Liter per person... Into US,,i think about same Into Mexico in checked bag... Hope this helps
Our last trip there were several people that had to pay 80 -100 dollars tax because they brought cigarettes in their luggage. I'm really not sure but I'm going to continue to take my chances bringing our bottles with us ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is this true? Last year I brought like 5 packs in my bag, and didn't have to pay any taxes. I was going to do the same this year, but I am not sure if I should put these in my carry-on, or my checked bag. I don't like the smokes down there.

There is for sure a HARD LIMIT on how many cigs you can take in. . I believe it was 200 per person. . ?
Ok cool thanks. Not much to worry about there then. If I smoked 10 packs in a week, I would seriously just stop. I mean I will definatly smoke more then my norm (1-2 packs a week), but it is cause i am on vacation and drink more. Plus it seems like I am always giving them away. Prob just going to bring 6 packs, and hopefully return with one or two.
