I would have to say you had an uncommon experience then. You're not always put into a van with people going to the same resort and even worse sometimes....there's kids in your van!!! But like MichiganCity2 said to each their own. I like to know we will be the only ones in our van. D
Has anyone developed a friendship with a specific trustworthy cab driver? When we go to Antigua, we and all of our friends use the same driver (Glenmore Culburn). You just give him some notice and here is there. Goes over and above his duty. And everyone tips him well at the end of the trip. I know Cancun is bigger, but that sure would be great to have.
Unfortunately that doesn't work at the Cancun Airport, ordinary taxi drivers are not allowed, by the airport authorities, to pick up fares at the airport. If you where prepared to drag your suitcases completely off of the airport property onto the public road then they could pick you up there.
Taxi Bummer. Thanks for the info about Taxi's can't pick up at airport. Had no idea. Oh well, I guess transfers it is from the airport. Still would be great to have a driver to count on for other trips. :deadhorse:
Just consider all of USA Transfers' drivers your driver to count on. The great thing is instead of having just one single one you get a whole fleet! D
USA Transfers is a direct ride to the resort & only costs 55.00 plus tip roundtrip. Thats who we always book thru. :rainfro:
We used USA Transfers in January and they were great - best price, right on time and no trouble at all! We used the company through TTR to book through the room in Oct., they were fine as well, but it was nearly $90, plus the tips each way. $55 was a much better price for the same great service. The advice here is also dead on, you need to just walk right through all the time share hawks outside customs. They claim to be your ride, your best friend, whatever you want them to be - don't look at them, just keep walking and go outside. USA Transfers has a sign they hold up and they are very easy to spot.
We have been using Olympus Tours for the last 5 or 6 years. They are a littloe cheaper than the company TTR pushes. They have a web site you can prebook on with and they are very popular and well known.. They also have a rep at TTR to confirm your trip back.
The vans usually run about $50 a round trip for two people but they are right, TTR is first picked up and last dropped off so you will make a few stops. Last year we used Best Day and had little to no problems, this year we used Olympus and had problems from start to finish (Didn't know we were coming, wanted to bill us twice, had to chase their rep down to get transportaion back details). And you do not need to talk to anyone in the airport until you are outside of the building, the Timeshare guys will make it sound like you need to talk to them to get your ride and they were catching a lot of the newbies like that. Anyway you look at it you have to get to TTR, I guess that is just the price of having fun...
to fireguy: when you used Olympus, how long did you wait at the airport for the van to fill up? how many stops did you make before you got to TTR? how long of a drive was it from the airport to TTR? how many hours before your airport departure did they pick you up? Thanks!
