Just got back and I would recommend using the private shuttle. Nothing "wrong" with the Best Day transfer but the extra $20 for the private shuttle is well worth it. With Best Day - you have to wait about 1/2 hour to board a shared shuttle and it takes an extra 20 minutes to get to your hotel (the omni for us) so you lose about and hour getting to your hotel. Then the return trip is 3 hours before your flight home. I remember leaving 2 hours the last few times with the private shuttle and having plenty of time at the airport to shop/eat. So all total it's about $20 cheaper but cost you about 2 hours of vacatin time. I got $200 to sit through a 2 hour time share presentation - you do the math
drew p- are you saying the private shuttle involves a 2hr timeshare presentation?!?!? or was that something you choose to do seperately? i am trying to avoid those people at all costs!!!! thanks
No NH I think he just is willing to use his time to get benefited by attending a timeshare sales pitch. Was probably at a hotel or something. There was a time share person in our lobby at the Flamingo and we got the welcome schpeel from her a basket of candy and some coupons, but after about 2 minutes of her I said my time is more valuable out in the sun then at a free breakfast and sales pitch. That was the end of it. If approched be firm and tell em NO CHANCE!
Sorry about the confussion. No time share pitch with Best Day. They will push you to sign up for your return trip when you get to the hotel so they get first shot at helping you book your excussions during your stay but they will definetely not take much of your time. I did the timeshare presentation offered through my hotel and got basically $250 worth of free food for about 3 hours of my time. I felt like that was a fair trade. I paid $34 for a shared shuttle and saved $21 compared to a private shuttle but it cost me 2 hours of my trip. Just trying to back up my reasoning for saying I would book the private shuttle in the future.
nh - remember this one rule. In the states - people are trying to sell you stuff all the time. Well in Cancun - people are trying to sell you something twice that much. The people at the hotel get something for sending you to a particular restaurant. Tour guys get money for getting you on an expensive tour. Taxi guys get money for taking you to a particular strip club. I would not think of timeshare people as being the enemy. They are just like everyone else - they are trying to sell . . you. Your time is one of the most valuable items in Cancun. Make sure they give you what you feel your time is worth and you will be all good.
