Yep, if you go with robbin' thomas cook - You pay £50! If you fly with good old Virgin Atlantic - There is nohing to pay! It would have been incorporated into you're flight price! Virgin all the way for me, for SO many reasons! Have a great time!
I'd have to get all the way down to London to fly Virgin though. Fairly sure last time I checked they don't do direct flights from Manchester. We did from Gatwick Airport our first trip (2 people in our grouped lived down south so they decided to book it from a southern airport) and I know I couldn't do that far away again, unless they stop direct flights from everywhere else. Trip down wasn't so bad, but driving back up to Liverpool after the 10 hour overnight flight...I was useless. Even energy drinks and caffeine pills couldn't keep me awake. Other half had to do the whole drive back. What are prices like with Virgin? Do you book the whole holiday as a package, or do you have to book separate with Alpha Rooms etc. and flight with Virgin?
dont understand why they dont just add it in on the flight it would be easyer . we have to do the T.C fights as we fly from manchester . no way i would be driving back from london after that fight .20 min in a taxi and we are home !
Departure Tax Having looked at Virgin holidays I couldn't find them doing a "package" to TTR. Are we therefore talking booking independent flights and then accommodation at TTR separately....and if so, at what cost ???
I'm from Canada and our airport departure tax has pretty much been incorporated into everything now. Can't think of anyplace we've been in the last little while where we've had to pay at the airport. Sorry to hear you folks still have to do that thought all travel companies had gone that way. Maybe you should ask Thomas Cooke travel if they plan on incorporating this into their prices. Couldn't hurt and the worse they can say is no.
It's the difference between schedule and charter flights. Scheduled flights eg. Virgin, have the tax built in, charters eg Thomas Cook, do not. Hey we're all paying it one way or another! :daisy:
Our charter companies have gone the same way. Just happy at the end of the week of partying I don't have to remember the safe place where I put the departure tax money. And you're right we all pay it.
Is that tax per person or per booking? We went with BA last May and never heard of it. We're going back in January but with Thomas Cook.
