Sometimes I've been a little disappointed with the food at AIs. Which AIs have the best food in the Cancun-Mayan Riviera, in the readers' experience?
The Hacienda Tres Rios was pretty good on food, just make sure to make a reservation for the gourmet restaurants a day in advance.
There is no question that as far as food -- you usually get what you pay for. El Dorado Royale had some nice food, for sure. We went there many years ago (more than 10, but less than 15) and we were probably too young to really appreciate the place -- it was too laid back, and way too quiet at night for us --- but it was lovely, and the food was good! VIM has it all, in my book. Maybe not if you're under 28, and looking for a lot of excitement -- but it has decent food, and decent everything else too. Golden Parnassus had good food - especially considering what you pay for it. Palladium had good food. The worst food I had was at the Reef Club, but that was many, many years ago and it sounds like it may be quite a bit different now. Other than that, most other places we've been to have been ok-to-good, nothing extremely memorable. But then again -- food is not our top priority when we go to Mexico.
The best we have experienced was the Barcelo Palace. The choices are spectacular with over twenty restaurants to choose from (if you're staying at the Palace) including French, Argentine, Japanese, fish, Italian and more. Quality was from very good to excellent.
Have to agree that Moon Palace has excellent food. Many restaurant choices to choose from, and even the buffets are stellar.
Best food we'e ever had at an AI is at Desire. Sounds trite, isn't. Their food is very, very good. Second best would be at the Excellence Playa Mujeres, slightly north of Cancun. Third best would be Secrets Capri, but it is EASILY the MOST BORING. Fourth best would be The Royal in Playa del Carmen.
