    I still say get the letter from the parents. Some airline check in clerk can ask for it and if you do not have it you are stuck at the airport and cannot travel.

    As for the hotel do not take chances.

    I think its best that the 3 people here head to someplace in the USA till the 3rd person turns 18 and then explore the possibility of going out of the USA.

    the majority of what was just posted applies mainly to children of estranged parents travelling with only one parent (to try to stem the kidnapping of children by non-custodial parents.) It may, in fact, apply to children travelling alone. . .I don't know for sure. I would make a phone call or send an email to the state dept. to make sure before I got to the airport, though, if it were I. It may be that the law has changed but I do know that at one time it was not legal for a minor to travel oversees without the parent(s) written documented permission. . .even if both parents were still married and in the same household.

    I'm not arguing this is still the law. . .I just know for a fact that it once was and if I had a trip to CancĂșn in play, I'd make triple sure.
