I don't mean to sound like a know it all but.... I hate to promote products normally but Greg is Irish (note the red hair) and extremely pale and he managed to not burn the entire 8 days we were there because of this sunscreen. Coppertone Sport SPF 30 Continuous Spray We did go through about a can of it every other day so bring extra sunscreen no matter what brand you bring because buying it down there runs around $16-22 in the stores nearby and I can get a pack of 3 of these for $16 at BJ's. Almost every first timer I talked to at the pool ended up buying more sunscreen after getting down there. Also the Sexy pool swim up bar is shaded almost all day so we stayed there.
They do make a SPF 85...Or was that toothpaste i was looking at...LOL... I have light skin but i started tanning back in Feb...LOL...
Most people hit this already but use 45 or above and apply it several times through out the day. The multiple applications are by far more important than the spf (provided you are above 15 of course). Start before breakfast in the room and OVERDO it the rest of the day. Dont forget your lips . They make chapstick with an spf of 15 or greater. I neglected this one year and got serious burns and blisters on my lips. Never again!
I ALWAYS pre-tan cause if I dont start in a tanning booth at like 4 minutes and work my way up to 20 minutes in there I WILL burn and BAD no matter what I put on in that intesnse of sun (seriously I get a little pink from doing the 4 minutes in the booth the first couple times....the day I progressed from 4 to 6 minutes my butt was bright red. ). So I was nice and golden last year after thinking I would be safe with the SPF 15 I had in my arsenal and it was all I brought. Halfway through arrival day my guy had to put me in the shade while he ran to the store so that I wouldnt ruin the trip. He got 30 for me and we made sure I applied often. Also my guy and my best friends guy are African American and in the late May sun they both got a little pink on their noses and shoulders the day they went deep sea fishing. Neither of them had ever heard of AA men getting burnt before and were a little winey about it...we had to apply sunscreen to them after they did us every morning after that. Ice...spray tan will NOT protect from the sun! Dont do that!!!!
. I am a light skinned freckle guy that burns thinking about the sun. I wear Banan Boat SPF 30 about three times a day with no problems. Last year i was in the sun all day everyday and never burned. have fun!
Thanks Everyone, Well im going to get an airbrush tan just so I dont blind everyone with my supreme whiteness. Im irish and white as a ghost. I am packing a can of sunscreen per day and I am going hat shopping tomorrow. I know that spray tan wont protect me, I just want color even if its fake. lol. Thanks again everyone. See yall soon!
Lobster I'm red-haired, blue eyed Irish. I have two shades, pale and lobster. I don't like the feeling of lobster much, so.... Bullfrog SPF 45 Gel (not lotion) is amazing. I should buy stock in the company. The stuff lasts forever, is very water / sweat resistant. I practially take a shower in it in the morning, and then reapply after lunch before heading back to the pool / beach. Otherwise, you'll see me hiding in the shade - a lot. Remember that sand (beach) and water (pool) reflect the sun quite well. Ears are a must, backs of legs - ouch. Wear a good hat - with rims all the way around are best. Even still, my wife always remembers to bring the "blue stuff" (a.k.a. aloe gel) for the evenings - even if I didn't burn, it feels good after being in the sun all day. As the joke goes in Oregon, we don't burn, we rust. June 20-28 - coming up soon! Pat
