I did NOT get a free upgrade. It was paid for no advance by us. As I mentioned, this was our 6th trip. It seemed like he was not going to take no for an answer. Their commission must be good. Our flights from St. Louis usually have us to the hotel between 10 and 12 AM. On three of the six stays, we have had paid for jacuzzi rooms and 5 out of 6 (well, 6 of 6) we have gotten our room right away. I saw a couple ask the desk clerk if she "couldn't just look again" and it worked. They got the room! So now I try it.
We didn't get a membership for our first... hmm... (counting) seven trips to BBG then TTR. After the initial trip (knowing to say not interested in the resort tour/meeting with free breakfast thing from a helpful lad on Trip Advisor) I knew already to simply say, "OK sure, how about Wendesday at 10:00 a.m.?" never having an intention of going through with it. They'll lie to you to get you to go, so lie to them about planning to go. Seems fair. But, later on, they started this new thing, witht he giving of specials *sort of* treatment, to get people to agree. Or, they call and bother you when you don't go through with it. So, I started saying, "I've done it, and I don't want to do it again." That worked fine for a couple trips. Then, they did a couple clean ups (right about the time Nice Shoes got converted away from being an actual sort of club downstairs to that dance show room only it is now), and they wanted to show us all the "new stuff" they had, so that was out. But, I think you could use it now.
Sometimes I just tell them not interested and walk away. The last time they wouldn't let up so I told my wife to keep on going and I told them LOOK This trip was paid for a long time ago and my business has not done well and we just filled bankrupcy now leave me alone. They apologized and I enjoyed my vacation.
WE HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS OUR LAST 7 OR 8 TRIPS WE JUST SAY OUR # OF TRIPS NOT INTERESTED THEY ASKED OUR NAME. HIGHLIGHT THEM ON THE LIST NEVER GOT ANY CALLS OR NOTES UNDER OUR DOOR BUT DID HAVE TO USE THE F**K OFF WORD IN THE PAST IF WORKS AS WELL. For us, they try last year!! I was I'm just beat up I'm out to bed ( early flight ) and I'm really not interested but thanks, I wouls just like to enjoy my vacation that I pay for!! And sorry by the way, but you have HUGE BOARD on your resort, I'm pretty sure I will find myself on the resort!! Saw people was stuck with them!!!! waste of time! We showed up obviously hung over and still drunk. Told them there is NO WAY we will make such an important decision while drunk and that we will probably be that way till we leave.
The sales people never bug us, the first thing I do is tell then to fu#$%% off and don't even think I will let you waste any of my vacation. They sign me off the list and done. Sometimes the try a little more and I just get meaner. I will never allow them in my vacation or to waste me time. I am there to see my friends and last I remember you are not on that list.
Twice I've told the person checking us in that we've been to the resort before and I want to be shown directly to my room with no stop at the desk. The salespeople start approaching, and the desk clerks have waved them away. Once, the salespeople started following us to the bell hop, but we told him that we'd been there before and wanted to get to our room, and he just barreled past them kind of using our luggage as a bulldozer!
