Rob, we have been to all of these resorts multiple times and I approve this message. I think it was a very good description of the resort. Someone did note, and Rob acknowledged, it can be different based on if and what group is there that week. The food can get old as Rob mentioned because of less choices. The night time is fun just like he said. The daytime is laid back. The people are the best. Like Rob said, you don't see fights, drunken obnoxious people, etc. I have met some great people from all over the world at Desire. I have done the same at TTR. But I don't have to meet up with the obnoxious ones to find the people I enjoy. I love the 24hr service. You can find food and booze anywhere. I love the size of the resort. And the main point, don't be afraid of the swinging. Nobody is going to attack you unless you ask them. You will miss out on a great resort.
Thank you! Great report! We have been wanting to try Desire rm for awhile. We will be trying it out soon!
Thank you, loved reading this TR! We had written Desire off because of the swinger factor but after reading this we may have to reconsider. One question if you don't mind; do you know if they are strictly couples or would they allow a triad (1M 2W)? We haven't had a problem at TTR, they even wrote it into our membership, but Desire is a bit of an unknown.
Yes Triads are permitted at Desire with MFF. We’ve seen it on various months but they do promote it in august and January. Let them know ahead of time and all should be fine. If you have any specific question about Pearl or RM when choosing which Desire Resort to attend just ask. We’ve been to both and like each one for different reasons.
Wow talk about an old thread LOL Yes Triads are allowed during ISM I think the room comparison might be interesting now as both have changed much since 2012. Its been 2 years since we were at DRM so I cannot comment on this as they were in the process of the room upgrades. But if you factor in the suites then DRM is much nicer. One thing the OP did not cover due to when it was posted was Cabo was Desire first not Temptation and shortly after his post changed back to Desire for the final year. And was much loved as a Desire But overall we enjoy both resorts. For myself I like the party at TTR but my wife prefers the more tranquil times at DRM (ie quieter at night) But we both really enjoy the hot tub at DRM and that experience cannot be matched. We will be headed to TTR for Halloween this year followed by 3 days at DP (our first time staying there).
It's been a bit since this TR came out, eh! Still a great read and applicable. Since that time, Stacia & I've been to DRM 9 times, DP for a week once and a day pass once, and probably the most telling fact is that I worked an upgrade to our premier membership to make DRM our new "Home" resort.
That extra 25% in currency exchange makes the room rates at Desire tough for we Canadians, doesn't it, Donald? Nevertheless, Sean and I are going to try it out for a couple of nights on a TTR trip, maybe next April. Our mortgage will be paid off by then! Great trip report, very helpful. Hopefully someone will write a new review on the updated resorts soon.
We are going to DRM for 2 nights and TTR for 5 nights. We are premier at TTR which gives us 25% off at DRM. The cost of 2 nights at DRM is almost the same as 5 at TTR. Hence only 2 nights for us, which is the minimum stay.
