On my first trip in 2012 I was travelling alone. I was suckered into the timeshare meet the next morning. It lasted 4hrs - no joke. I said no many times. Even explained that it was actually cheaper for me in the long run to buy a package deal from Canada than it was to just buy a flight and pay the daily AI rate there. That said, my last hour of their 'pitch' I was put in a room while 2 men literally screamed at me and called me a lot of offensive names. I was alone with these men and honestly felt I couldn't remove myself from the situation. All in all, I was scared. I left shaking and headed for a drink asap. If that had happened at home, I'd have headed to the police station. That said, I am heading down on my third trip next month. I love the place but I won't so much as acknowledge the existence of the timeshare staff.
WOW! I'm sorry but I would have made sure everyone knew about what happened that's for sure! With today's tech, even using your phone as a voice recorder taping what they say! I think guest seeing a highly upset woman on a timeshare would scare any chances of anyone else that day buying into the timeshare deal!
Yeah that is pretty horrible. not sure if it will make you feel better but I think those guys are no longer there though. But again I certainly see your point of view.
Haha - agreed with the "ankle-breaker-heels" - (check-out my pics) I broke my ankle in 3 places, had surgery in Mexico day 11 this past August - and yes, easy fix - wear flats??? ... just don't know if I could retire those hot 5 1/2 inch heals!! LOL!! Right now I say yes to the flats, but the break is fresh - still sporting a hot-pink cast; however, in a year and once healed, I will most likely be in the 5 1/2 heals. PS, I fell while walking on a carpet laid over the sand (beach) no slippery tiles in sight - argh - I think the wedges had something to do with this... ... it seemed like a good idea in the moment!!
Have to say I am a PM and of course like most of you had been down as a red band before making the choice to upgrade. As the Canadian Dos Equis fan stated you can choose to use or don't use them it's nice to have the choice. And just because your a PM member doesn't mean we all get the same perks people. Some people have gone for the whole hog special and others have gone for the dip in the pool experience. I will agree there are some places the resort could stand to spend some of the hard earned cash in example fixing the door, treating nice shoes to a face lift not sure about the covering of Paty o's but the sail idea sounded nice kind of the best of both worlds... I agree going for a drink and getting soggy bum is never fun. We also have to remember a few things though, the ramps yes they can get slippery as all hell in the rain serve a purpose and it's not just for you and I to get around the resort. The intent of the ramp is to allow the fine people that clean our rooms a place to get their heavily laden carts to the front of your room in order to change out your towels and bed sheets as required. As far as security by the pool yeah it can feel like the hall monitor is watching but again they serve a purpose, on our first trip security wasn't by the pool for this though, there was a single girl walking around wearing a thong maybe more of a wicked weasel bottom ( not complaining just stating facts ) having a great time partying it up when she walked by a group of single guys and the one idiot they packed for the trip decided this was the time to ruin someone's vacation slapped her on the ass so hard it left a huge handprint. The bar staff wrapped up a towel with ice and gave it her to apply to the area, the idiot was ushered off as so he should be. Well it didn't take long for this handprint to turn into a big ugly bruise. Changed the girls whole demeanor she went from laughing and joking and having a good time to being sullen downhearted and a shell of her former self. My wife told me this after I had returned from our room otherwise I probably would have popped said idiot as we have a daughter who is just about that girls age. Needless to say had security been at the pool then the likelihood of that happening would have been lessened, yes they can be a downer at times but if it makes one woman feel that much safer then its worth it.
I was contenually harassed by one of the beach vendors one morning. Every time he walked by he made comments about how nice my boobs were. But he was very vulgar about it. After I stood up to give him a shot to the balls, security came over and walked behind him when he walked by. But I had to cuss him and approach him for them to do it. Wish they had come sooner. Hubby was fishing and none of the men on the beach said a thing for me.....
We can relate We can relate to the place sometimes being clickish / snobbish. We have been to TTR 5 times, and have never had any issue meeting new people and making new friendships -- until this past February. We were not able to go Week 8 like we normally do. We arrived Week 7 on a Wednesday and although we are very social / happy-go-lucky, we really struggled to find anyone that even wanted to talk to us ! There were several large groups and it was pretty clear that they were not interested in even communicating with anyone outside their group. Thankfully Friday night out of the blue we met this trio from St. Louis at the Patio and from that point on the fun never stopped. Probably some of the funniest craziest people we have ever met at TTR. We then met Glenn and Sophie from Great Britain. There were an absolute blast, and more than made up for those first two days ! We still keep in touch with them and will try to get together again April 2014.
