    It sounds like you are prioritizing work and savings, though, which is not a bad thing in itself.

    If your work is entirely portable, or could be supported with periodic visits to D.C., you could try life here without experiencing too much financial disruption, and find things cheaper owing to the weak peso.

    Whether you could let go of work enough to achieve what you see as what you need more of is finally up to you.
