I was very nervous the first time, but like everyone else says, do what you want when you are comfortable, no one really cares and no one ever judges from my experience and this will be our fifth trip!
We just got back from our first trip 2 weeks ago. We'd been to Mexico before and we'd been to all inclusive resorts before, but I was a little nervous about the top optional atmosphere. (I actually gave myself shingles stressing out about it about 6 weeks before we left.) All of that being said, I have never: been on a vacation that was more fun, met so many nice people, and hung out in such a non-judgmental atmosphere. I had I initially planned on looking at the whole resort and then settling by the quite pool for the first day or two. Yeah, that totally didn't happen. We walked by the sexy pool, and it looked like so much fun that we dropped all of our stuff on the first free lounge chair and jumped in...no top. The stressing out and nervousness was totally unnecessary. You're going to have a great time.
Tomorrow marks our 16th time to Mexico and third straight time to TTR. We were nervous at first as well but now cant think of going to any other resort. Just spend your time in the mindset of TTR's motto: Nobody knows you and nobody gives a shit. Spend your time with that in mind and you will have a blast.
I was nervous the first trip. Day 1 top on, day 2 top off and not back on! No judgment at TTR ever. If you're comfortable do it. But like Donald said, don't forget to sunscreen the girls. We will be back for our third trip in 1 week!!

We were at TTR cancun for the first time October 11th to 18th. Been to Cabo TTR and Desire several times.
