I bought a medium sized styrofoam cooler at the grocery store and filled it with ice from the ice machine every day. It stayed plenty cold.

Early April in Cancun is plenty busy and the clubs will still be packed... just not ridiculously packed so you can't move or get a drink like peak...
maybe I'm reading it wrong... but did you extend your vacation by leaving 2 days earlier for cancun or did you move everything up 2 days?
