Hey all... seems like the reviews on the music and DJ’s are mixed. One poster stated the DJ killed the vibe every night with awful repetitive music. For those of you just back, how was it? Music is pretty important to creating a fun and sexy vibe. Hoping for some salty beats on our first stay :)

Different age groups/nationalities and ethnicities tend to like different styles of music.... so it would probably be very hard to get a consistent opinion on the music. Too subjective.

YMCA or Nickelback on “repeat” would bother any nationality, group, ethnicity, race or otherwise lol. The music in a club or resort should generally make people feel like dancing and letting loose wether it has a reggae, latin, hip-hop, EDM etc dance vibe, no?

I totally agree with that personally. But lots of people prefer old school Rock and or Country etc.

Apparently they are still playing YMCA, but it use to be the theme song and staff actually dance on it. If you restrain yourself to having fun even if it’s the same song you might do something wrong ang not drink enough. Most resort don’t have a night life and you need go to out and spend $$$ to do so.

This is a tough topic but very near and dear to my heart as I agree with your opinions. :)

But here is why it is tough. What is good is very subjective. Our number one complaint about the old TTR (except maybe no jacuzzi) was the repetitive music made up of mostly top 40 / classic rock mish mash type songs like pitbull, sweet home alabama, guns n roses type stuff. Some loved it. We hated it. So along comes the new TTR which based on our two trips had much less mish mash top 40 and more (not always) club / EDM type music. Each night brought a different mix when we were there. The house dj clearly leaned more towards the old TTR pitbull, guns n roses type repeats. But some nights they had real club like djs playing new style dance club EDM music (especially saturday night glow / rave night). Some on here complained about that. We loved it.

And clearly TTR doesn't do the same thing each week. We saw reports of some weeks where someone said it was the same dj thursday and friday and saturday playing the same music. The two times we were there they had different people on friday and saturday than the house dj. Maybe the week others where there they just stuck with the house dj who is the one who sticks to the standard play list. So point is each week may be different.

I do worry that now that they have gotten into more of a routine they are more likely to stick with the same house dj and not bring in different people on the weekend. Hopefully that isn't the case but based on some recent reports I fear it is. One thing that seems to be the case more with the new ttr is they are willing to take requests so don't be shy in asking for something different but of course tip if you want them to follow thru.

End result is different strokes for different folks. Cant keep everyone happy. Based on our experiences the music at the new ttr leaned more towards club and EDM than the old TTR and we liked it. Understanding others do not. But it didn't go this direction every night so the mish mash pit bull / top 40 night we didn't like so they hadn't completely come over to the club / dance / edm side and aren't sure if they are going to stay moving in this direction or go back to the old top 40 / mish mash approach.

Thanks for your feedback. Generally the higher the BPM the more people are dancing - hard not to with good bass and a good beat, right? Note to self: bring cash for tipping the DJ haha.

My only reason for posting is that there were some pretty strong opinions about the DJ killing the sexy vibe.

At the end of the night we’ll be enjoying ourselves and the people regardless, I just can’t help but think Karim Rashid didn’t have Nickelback, Kid Rock or “Sweet Home Alabama” in his earbuds when designing the initial concept for the renovations lol. The place looks amazing!

I totally agree witht he facts as stated above by Kyle. I'm on the other side of this, as I can't stand EDM music. It gives me a headache after about 30 seconds. No idea why.

I'm cool with Pitbull etc... but I'm NOT, so this is where Kyle & I are in lockstep... the SAME Pitbull on hot rotation every single night at (old) Patyo's and (new) Bash. Ugh! I mean, it's pretty bad when Welcome tot eh Jungle comes on and you know it's within a minute or two of 11:45 p.m., right?

I like Guns n' Roses, sure. A Lot. But... being able to set my watch by it while on vacation doesn't work for me.

Mixing what Kyle is into, with what I'm into, with what Jen wants to hear, with what Stacia wants to hear is the solution, but that takes one hell of a DJ, and if you're not flexible even in my little scenario here you are disappointed 75% of the time. It's a tough thing. It's hard to get a large crowd of disparate people to like and enjoy the same music. Always has been.

I enjoy the Village People. I could foregoe ever having to hear it again at TTR though, just saying.

Agreed S&J - nobody needs Skrillex and air horns all night lol. Just thinking good beach-like music that gets everyone moving. Hopefully the DJ reads the crowd and if the crowd wants more cowbell.. fair enough! The demographics at TTR are all over the map so the DJ definitely has a challenge.

lol we use to go to a club where you knew it was 11 at night because the dj would play lady in red lol
I loved it when we came before the remodel and they would play ymca and the bar staff would jump up and dance on the bar .. we gave extra tips .. it was just fun :)
I know they use to do the same parties every night like the one night not sure what day of the week it was it was the guy with the rock violin .. do they still do that or mix it up more ?
