We just got back from TTR (Apr 30-May 10). We have been a premier member since 2002, over 200 nights spent at resort over those years. During our stay we talked with many employees. They are looking for new jobs as most will be let go during renovations. As it gets closer to closing time, there will be fewer and fewer employees there that have experience or just not enough staff to give good service. I hope for the best for all the great staff that has made our stays so wonderful, and wish them the best. Can't blame them for taking new jobs elsewhere. When they do, it will take a toll on TTR service!
Thanks for the report. This issue concerns many of us. Just hope the service standards do not drop too low... we are going in August. My suggestion to management , less (N0) security at the sports pool after 2 am...and the beach ... and the sexy pool ....and cut out all the flashlights, save money on batteries.... just saying....
Yeah, I was definitely thinking about this. I know people are booking and keeping those weeks towards the end, but there is certainly a risk. I couldn't imagine them keeping the same stocked staff right until the last day. Also, the food would probably change, as they run out of items to eat and drink I can't see them ordering more just to get by. It think one would hear lots of "we are out of that", those last few weeks. Or it could be the opposite and that last week they will be getting rid of all the top booze, and just giving lobster and large steak portions away every night
This is what I am hoping will happen. Oh well, we just need to party as hard as possible so as not to notice any bad things and focus on the good.
I brought up the concern about food/drink over on Facebook and everyone said not to worry - they'll just move excess food, etc. over to one of their other hotels. They might do that but it's probably not worth the expense of moving it all. I could see moving booze (assuming unopened bottles), but not sure about the food.
Never even thought about the staff, etc, thinning out. We'll just have to make the best of it. We're still paying for the same service we've always received. Would hate to see that change.
I thought Steve had mentioned in the beginning that the staff would be taken care of during the closure and guaranteed their jobs during reopening? Maybe I'm wrong Steve could you clarify with your discussions?
I wasn't going to mention this, but I was at a Club Med several years ago(Playa Blanca in Manzanillo). It was the last week and they were closing it down permanently. I don't remember the food or drinks being a problem, but what was a problem, was that security and others were stealing everything they could get their hands on. If you hung wet clothes out to dry , they were gone in minutes(even in daylight). My buddy got stuff stolen out of his bag when we were checking out waiting for the bus. One couple got their safe broken into. It sucked! And im still thinking about going in September...Just not the last week
Some room cat , are already sold out ( think I saw that ) going to be interesting.,, '' Just leave the bottle on the counter , we'll make our own drinks'' ,lol there was one comment about cheaper to keep paying them for 7 months then giving severance package , but that doesn't make up for tips . hopefully they put chemicals in the pool
Didn't they also say there would be an announcement about what people were to do that had booked during the closure? Something about a resort that would keep the concept the same? They may make promises, but nothing says they will keep them.
