We arrive next Monday, 2/18. The forecast for that week looks terrible, rain almost every day. I'm hoping that will change, but I'm wondering... Other than all the pool action during the day, does rain affect the nighttime party? I read that Paty-O's is outdoors, but is it covered? What happens if it rains all night? Do people just go to bed or does the party move elsewhere?
First off pay no attention to the weather reports. I have yet to see them be right. If it does rain it's usually not constant. There's always the sports bar
Forecast for Cancun is always rainy. It rarely turns out that way. If it's a torrential downpour, they'll open the indoor bar. If it's just raining a bit, then I'd recommend that the guys take off their shirts and the girls find a super skimpy and thin white t-shirt. Everybody proceed to get wet and get their party on. No, you can't just go to bed. It's not allowed. See you Monday!
We have only been there once during a down pour at night. It poured for about an hour with lightning. We decided to stay in that night :aktion031: but after the down pour we could hear everyone out and about partying it up at patio. Everyone was probably at nice shoes or the sports bar while the heavy rain came down. If it's a real light rain then people will still be out at patio.
There is some protection from the rain at Paty-Os, but it mostly just covers the tables. The party will move to the sports bar or nice shoes. The rain never seems to last very long, and the reports seem to always predict rain. Have a great time!! Dawn & Curtis
We arrive the 20th, so I, like you, have been looking at the forecast too and had the same "uh oh" feeling...there isnt one sun in that dang forecast this week! However, I jumped over to the tripadvisor cancun forum-there usually is at least one post a day about weather-sho nuff someone asked the question to anybody who was currently there to report what the weather was-and a lady there said it's been 80's, warm and sunny all week. Even though I know the forecasts are always wrong, just nice to hear it from someone who's there-that the sun is a-shinin!!! :daisy:
Been there 4 times. The staff always says 20% chance of rain every day. Sometimes a storm cloud rolls in drops rain for 5 mins then is out. I have had a couple of days with down pours. Party on the patio goes on but is not totally covered and you will get wet. Most head into downtown cancun for nightlife. This is actually the best months to go, rain season starts in June through Oct
My wife danced the night away through a rain storm. Everyone else ran for cover and watched from the side. It made the evening! It is what you make it.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, I have a super-hero ability. Some guys get "Abs of Steel", Some get "Words of Casanova", some guys get "Looks of Brad Pitt".... I got "Everything Always Works Out For Me". So it's not going to rain while I'm there anyway. And even if it does, one way or another, It's Going to Work Out For Me!!!
No worries about the rain in Cancun unless it's hurricane season and there's a storm nearby. Rain in the forecast means a chance of some rain, somewhere over the Cancun area. It could be a tiny raincloud that rains for 10 minutes on the other side of town, seriously. Some numbers to put you at ease, keeping in mind the number of days the forecast shows rain right now: Average number of days in February with rain: 4 Average total rainfall for February: 2.2 inches Also, the sexy pool in the rain is awesome.
