I am a bit of a newbie here but I thought I would try to offer some advice. Me and my wife took our 4 boys (ages 9 - 15) to Cancun last year. I got advice here to spend a few days in Playa also... It was a big mistake. We did not like it at all. Cancun was far better. We drove down that way to go to Tulum and Xei ha but I regret staying down there. The beaches are not as nice, not much to do down there... It was not as clean or as safe feeling as Cancun. It felt dirty...... We cut our trip short and took a loss on our condo to return to our Resort in Cancun... Sorry if some dont agree... but I will never go down to Playa again. The resort area in Cancun is perfect. We are going back in 4 or 5 weeks and staying at the Royal Sands again. It was perfect.
We have stayed in Playa before ( last year me and my husband did ) . and Stayed in Cancun on the same trip We love Cancun but we also like Playa. Just different reasons. We relax more in Playa we are on the go more in Cancun. So were going to stay a couple days in playa to relax then head to cancun ( or what we call our home away from home). I never felt Dirty in playa. We stayed at the Royal and loved it but we do love Cancun more Actully we got better service at the Royal in Playa then we did at the Royal in Cancun however we love cancun area more Were going to do a condo on the beach in playa and then Cancun palace in cancun for a week We have been to mexico 4? times I believe? so this is our 5th and were happy with our choice thanks for the advice though.
OK.... I jsust thought I would offer some advice but it sounds like you are more experienced than me... LOL. We stayed in a condo in Playa right near where the boat docks from Cozumel. It was a great location. If you are interested I will look it up and post the info about it.

So I contacted the owner and she got back to me right away with a great price.... $1,300.00 for 4 nights and that included taxes.... It is the perfect location IMO.....
