    Hi guys,
A question. I just discovered that for $15/day, I can have wireless internet access in my room at The Great Parnassus. This is awesome for me (although not as awesome as free access, heh) because my daughter & I are traveling without my husband and we want to Skype with him every night we're there.

I just want to make sure, before I go, that it's reliable. Anyone stayed there (Steve?) and used their wireless access?

When I was browsing the forums looking at an inexpensive option to keep in touch with my husband, I saw that calling cards sometimes work and sometimes don't. Something I wouldn't have known if I hadn't found this forum.

The LAST thing I want is to lug my laptop there and plan on that being our main form of communication... and then find out that it's super slow or sporadic. (but I also don't want to rent a cell phone and be out $300+, either)

    Thoughts?

Normally when we go it's a chance to get away from the Internet so we don't usually request it.

We did try it once a couple of years ago, and it wasn't very good. I wanted to watch an important soccer game via a live stream (not much different to Skype in terms of speed required). We ordered the service the night before and the speed was so slow I couldn't even check the forum. We complained and they said they tried to fix it but it was still very slow. In the end I drove back in the morning to watch the game at home, and then went back to the hotel.

We tried to get our money back (I think it was $30 per 24 hrs at the time) and had a difficult job because you pay online via credit card and the money goes to a company contracted by the hotel, not the hotel itself. We got it back in the end but not without a lot of hassle.

As mentioned this was a couple of years ago, things may have changed for the better now though.
