Sorry if this has been covered a million times over (I haven't seen it) but we are trying to plan for our phones at the resort. We're on AT&T. We want to use them more for the camera, streaming music, finding Cancun Care friends and possibly checking in back home via Facebook etc. Not work or reading posts from people back home. I'm convinced we'll be plenty entertained! So I'm wondering if the WiFi is decent at the resort and how it works. Extra $? Or....what else have you done to avoid crazy international roaming to use Internet? Thanks in advance!
Yes it extra dollar for wifi. To avoid roaming charges...put your phone in airplane mode and turn on wifi only. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wifi is free if you are a member or go on a referral... Otherwise, here is the cost as found on TTR website: We offer Wi-Fi internet access in the public areas of the resort. If you have your own lap top you can get the access code for $15 USD and you can use it for 24Hrs. If you need a computer, you can ask for it at Front Desk and pay $5 USD every 30 minutes. - See more at: https://temptationresorts.com/cancun/faqs/#sthash.9DCoa8F3.dpuf I found this Christmas that the quality of the Wifi has increased compared to previous stay.
Check with ATT if they have the international plan, I have sprint and there is not roaming charges, all the data you can get from Mexico phone company and Just .20 cents per minute. works better in case of emergency! you can also use the WIFi at the resort, $35 per week.
At&t has a free plan for Mexico - unlimited calling/texting and 1 GB of data per line. You just have to opt in! The service worked great there!
I have Verizon and will be on a $2/day plan. I have 12GB of data to use, so you can just stay by me and keep bringing me shots and you can use my hotspot all day!
Despite having gotten better, I'd recommend downloading your music before coming rather than trying to stream. For email, basic web, uploading pics &etc...get the free ATT option that others have mentioned, it's perfect! Even in you run thru the 1GB it's not too bad for additional Data. I've used ATT in Mexico for years and have always been satisfied. The resort WiFi is also an option but at least in the past has not been any better than what I get on the phone...so ultimately probably wait for home to do anything more intensive than the basics.
