There is Alma Libre in Pto Morelos and something world in PdC and Sanborns (gag) and we actually have quite a library here for both kids and adults. Most the adult stuff is paperback (trashy and nontrashy) and kids is historical fiction.

Needful Things is top choice, Sanborns has some, sometimes Walmart and the little book store in Paseo Cancun. Alma Libre is great, but they're only open half the year, they are now closed until October (er, November?).

I meant to post earlier about Needful Things but forgot. While it is a little hard to find parking if you are driving yourself there (sometimes the side street is full) it is definitely worth the walk to enjoy this treasure trove.

Having lived in SE Asia (where anything written in English is expensive and hard to come by) and having a serious addiction problem with books, finding Nancy at Needful Things soothed my jangling nerves.

I'm almost finished with the latest stack I purchased so another trip to visit her for a trade-in session is on my list of things to do.

    Two things:

If you are driving it is almost easier to park at Plaza Hollywood and walk, or you can try making the first right past Needful Things and parking there.

Also, Costco normally has an ok selection of new books in English, both hard cover and paperback. Not nearly as cheap as in the US Costco's though. Sanborns is ok but $120 pesos or so for paperbacks is not my idea of a bargain.

    Good luck.

We hope to be back by early November...sometimes we are having too much fun on the road to come straight back home to Puerto Morelos.

We will not be coming back empty handed though, we'll have several thousand new books to compliment the 20,000 we already have on the shelves. (and free and easy parking to boot :))

We also have a new scheme to allow us to get special order books into your hands in 5-6 business days! We're very excited about this and just completed a test order, which arrived in a week. Amazing!

See you in a few months! (We're in San Miguel de Allende)
