just wondering your opinions from ppl who live or have recently visited of when you seeing the bulk of cancun looking and opporating to its full potential? i've seen and heard they've been making significant progress and have all new planted palm trees, many bars and restuarents are now open etc. but unfortunately still a lot of eye soarers do to the aftermath of whilma. what would your predictions be. (of course this is just opinion and some place may never be the same from severe damages, i'm jsut talking the bulk of place...ps, only vote if you were recently there or live there, i'm personally not going to vote for that reason)
although this is a poll, feel free to share your comments aswell. I'm curious to everyones perspective.
Just returned on Feb 18th. From what I've seen, for the most part, progress is being made and no one should fear. Cancun will be back, and better than ever. When it's really back, it will kick booty better than ever. IMHO, Cancun will be better because of Wilma. I think the complacency will no longer be common, construction and the ideal of the long term survival (for businesses) will only help make the vacation destination number one.
Cancun is almost back to "normal" now. With the exception of a few hotels, just about everything is up and running. All the bars will be open within the next month, tonnes of restaurants to choose from, shopping is open, the sea is beautiful, the weather is great and the beach project will be done by April. We're mere inches away from being better than ever.
We were there 2/12 to 2/17 for our 3erd trip we love Cancun and hope to retire there. But on our ride from the airport to our hotel I was completly shock by the devastated hotels and bussiness between the airport and Slices. Maybe I am wrong but almost nothing looked open. The remains of hotels and condos was something I had not expected. Although there seemed to be alot of repairs and new construction going on I think it will take a while for that end of town to recover. Now for a happier note everything between Slices and the locals downtown (top part of the 7 ) seemed to be about 80% recovered.
just curious to know what is the beach project? my guess would be placing more fill to extend the beach? also, is the mall beside coco-bongo's now open?
