Hi everyone. Many people write little poems for each other so I thought I'd see if people fancied sharing them. They can be for a current loved one or someone who has passed away. Even if you've never written one please try it because you'll be suprised how many feelings flow. Anyway, here's a little poem I wrote to read out at my Father's cremation a few weeks ago, hope you like it.

    DAD

HERO’S ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE SUPER POWERS WITH WHICH THEY TRY AND SAVE A LIFE BUT A HERO CAN ALSO BE A SIMPLE MAN WITH 3 CHILDREN AND A LOVING WIFE.

INSTEAD OF SCALLING BUILDINGS TO FIGHT OFF THE WORLDS BADDIES HE SPENT HIS LIFE TIME BECOMING MY VERY SPECIAL DADDY.

HE LEFT A LIFETIME OF MEMORIES FOR EVERYONE TO SHARE AND ENJOY BUT HE LEFT SOME VERY SPECIAL ONES FOR ME, AS I WAS HIS LITTLE BOY.

BUT NOW HE LIES PEACEFULLY BEFORE ME LOOKING AS GOOD IN DEATH AS HE DID IN LIFE, WITH MY SILENT STARE ONLY BROKEN BY THE CRIES OF HIS GRIEVING WIFE.

I FEEL A MAN BECOMES A HERO WHEN HE FIGHTS THROUGH HIS OWN LIFES GOOD AND BAD, TODAY MY HERO LOST HIS FINAL FIGHT……….MY HERO IS MY DAD

Thanks guys. It was very easy writing my little ditty, it just came to me in stages between Dad's death and the cremation. Reading it out along with a speech I wrote about him was a different kettle of fish all together lol

Sorry to hear of your loss Les.

On a brighter note though, and in an attempt to put a smle on your face feel free to use this little ditty that I concocted whilst trying to woo a female work collegue a few yars back in your next valentines / birthday card to Lynfa .

    Roses are Red
    Voilets are Blue
    I've got a big Knob
.. and want to put it in you.

    Ian

PS. Don't inadvertently text it to everyone in your phone book memory cos reactions from family members can be quite alarming and reactions from certain male friends even more worrying :) .

I am so very sorry to hear about your loss.

Here is a poem me and my husband wrote for Dallas and then one for Andrianna.

Let me share with you something my lil man.
You hold the whole world in your hands.
You Gripped it tight and never let go.
you took your fears and pushed them below.
You have been knocked down to the floor.
You always stood and asked for more.
you see so much that i will never see.
you see what you want and that makes you free.
You dont judge by color or look of a face.
your mind can take you anywhere, any place.
you feel when i am happy, you feel when i am sad.
you feel when i know that you have been bad.
you held our hearts your first day on earth
we thank god everyday for your birth.

Eyes as deep as the Darkest night.
Skin as white as winter snow in flight.
Laughter as sweet as song birds up high.
Checks that glow when you turn shy.
Hugs that warm the coldest soul.
Kisses that could fill a heart ful of holes

angles_among_us those words are beautifull. I wrote one for my Grandmother who passed away shortly after I got married. I had a local photographer to frame it along with a pic of her, Lynfa & myself at our wedding then gave it to my mam. I want to do the same with mt Dad's poemagain for my mam but I just can't bring myself to do it as I have to stop pretending he's not gone then.
Nothing worse than losing someone who you wanted to say something to. The regret will never ever go away.
