We arrive Friday morning and just checked the weather for the week. It looks like thunder storms rain and high wind for the entire week !! What is there to do at the resort when it's weather like this?:icon_cry:
1st rule of Cancun is never trust the 5 day forcast. It's almost never right and always says its going to rain. If it rains it's usually in bursts that don't last very long. That being said when it does you can still drink at the sexy pool either in the pool if its not lightning or under the cabana. It rained at times during the night time also for short spells and everyone either just went under the awnings or just braved the water because we didn't care or weren't wearing much of anything anyway.
We were there for 7 days last April and it didn't rain the entire time we were there. If it does rain I expect it will just be a shower and likely throughout the overnight.
We had 2 full days of rain last time we were there. It was only a light rain, but it didn't stop. The first day we hung out in our room and tried hanging out in the sexy pool for an hour or two. Got very bored. The second day we said screw it and hung out in the sexy pool all day. It was fun, but not near as fun as sunny days. We made the best of it though. PS, like others have said don't ever trust the weather reports. Not sure why, but they will always tell you it's going to rain.
Make the best of it! It rained hard for 4 days during our last visit - we did hang out near the sexy pool anyway, then to the Alternative Bar, party in the rooms and then like the others said - have your own party!
Make up your own games. Bring a pack of cards, some dice and you've got a million drinking games you can play with that. You can even make a drinking game out of Channel 12...every time somebody else 'joins in' or they change positions you have to take a shot! Bring a portable music device, some speakers, and party in your room. Failing that, do what we did and just stick it out and party in the pool in the rain! A lot of people clear out when it rains so you get great service at the bar and the bees disappear too!
One thing I noticed though that was really annoyinig when it rained - they don't attempt to take in any of the furniture on the beach or dotted around the resort. So, days later after it has rained, you go to sit on a seat around the sports pool for the pool party, or a bed on the beach, and water seeps out of the seams and you don't notice until your clothes are wet! Got really annoying after two days of this when you forgot it had rained many days ago, and being only able to sit in the very middle of the beds to avoid the water seepage.
