    Super quick question.

I am a Canadian Resident, same with my wife, and two other friends.

we currently have a home based business in Canada.. all inbound calls on VOIP, and Email technical support. All phone calls can get routed anywhere in the world VIA the internet, same with our emails..

    ANYWAYS...

If we move to Cancun, and do our business online in cancun, we get paid in canada, into our canadian accounts.. no paychecks.

Do we need any permits or anything? Lets say we wanna try 6 months of this, and if turns out well, 1-5 years.

What is the best way of going about this.

Yes you'll need a 'permit' i.e Visa if you intend to stay longer than 6 months, less than 6 months you'll be fine on a tourist visa but may encounter problems if you want to open a bank account, buy a car, rent accomodation etc.

Imho given your situation, go for a Rentista FM2 if you think you might be here long term.

Please see this thread for lots of visa advice:

You need permission from immigration to live here. But if your work is entirely over the internet and you are paid in Canada you may not need permission to work here, which makes your immigration situation simpler. Best to check with an attorney about this. But if you aren't employed in Mexico then you don't need permission to work in Mexico.

I also have an internet business. I'm paid commissions by a Mexican company, but my business is registered in the U.S. The Mexican consulate in Minnesota said that makes it a U.S. business, regardless of the source of commissions. So I have the FM3 Rentista (no work permit involved). Since you earn income in Canada and your business is Canadian, I'd say you will not be considered to be working in Mexico and can apply for the "rentista" without work permission.
