We've been looking at this resort and reading a lot of reviews. My wife and I are 42 and 37 respectively. We've never been to a resort like this, but I think we could do very well here even as a vanilla couple. We are pretty flirty by nature and my wife is super social. We love to drink. We love going to adult bars and getting double dances together. I think she'd have a lot of fun especially being in a place where she's encouraged to feel sexy, where body image isn't judged so harshly and there's plenty of experiences and opportunities to dip your toes into. Funny thing, we are not swingers but lots of local people had assumed we are. I've given her the initial pitch but we want to know more first.

Some reviews claim that its mostly people 50-60 while others claim there's more 30-40. Some reviews say there are no people under 30, but other reviews say there are. Likewise, most reviews say there are single people - but what about single women? There's no shortage of single men in this world. Does the day of the week correlate with the crowd? Would it be better to do sun-mon-tues-weds to save big on the booking cost or are the best days really Friday / Saturday night for us and a better age mix?

Is spring break a BAD time to go? Are off months a boring time to go?

Does it make sense to stay at a nice beach and do excursions for a few days, and then stay at Temptation the next few days? I worry that if we only stayed 2 of the days we might not really get comfortable enough to enjoy the whole experience.

There are a lot of reviews that would suggest this resort is an outright scam from the moment you step in. I'm not speaking of just the premium upsell, but rooms double booked, forced into upgrades, guests being charged for things they didn't receive, added costs to leave the hotel and return etc. This is all worrisome.
There are many trip advisor reviews that blatantly claim the "food sucks." but there or other reviews that say the restaurants are really good. For the cost of this resort (which is like, 2 or 3 cruises) food that "sucks" isn't going to work. There are also many posts that the alcohol is largely well and watered down.

We are avid cruisers and we understand reviews can be subjective. We also understand that if you pay for an RC cruise, your bed is going to be made 2 times a day, the food will be amazing and every bartender has a smile. You just won't see many younger couples - mostly families and old people. If you cruise with Carnival, its more party fun with much younger people but more often than not you have to make your own bed, the service bites and while more food is included, it isn't quite as good. Its still good though. We're capable of accepting what is, and what isn't.

At the same time, we know what 'included alcohol' can look like in places like Cozumel. Small clear cups, well spirits, awful drinks that taste kinda foul at a poolside bar with water so dirty you can't see the bottom. We are so far above this and I would never knowingly do that to my wife. We want real drinks (and frozen drinks!) and margarita's made of the very best stuff. Food is subjective too. We've been to bars who's kitchen is awful and people still post "GOOD FOOD!" on the google reviews so who knows?

About once a month at local bars, some random single guy will me if he can sleep with my wife. It is annoying. We know we'd have to be more open minded at a resort like this and may be approached a lot, but how aggressive and pushy can people be? We've had men who won't simply excuse themselves, and instead give me a speech about her 'freedoms, desires and happiness' or try to convince me that she really wants it and won't tell me. Then gawk at us for the rest of the evening or leave a phone number in case we change our minds. Neither one of us wants to play defense all day throughout the day. Is this kind of hounding going to happen 2 or 3 times a day? This is very different from the flattery of getting hit on (well, how would I know lol)

Great questions coming from first timers at TTR , from our trip experaince dec 4-11 2021 kinda in short answer for you kinda goes down like this,

1 .we love to party and drink also, we arent considered in the "lifestyle" but we arent closed to a great time, and just live in the moment and say F*ck it, TTR is all about that with no pressure, the play makers are a hit at the pool all day i would say that they tried to engage with everyone at least once that made the eye contact and or said hello to them, pool party during the day was a blast we were lucky to get foam party on Saturday and Wednesday

    2. i would say 99% of the people there are NOT judgemental, it is more of the people being judgy of themselves and not the ones around them, most people here in the life or not, karina dressed up every night, i tried a few times but some of them were hard for me and i was a little UN-prepared for what i would be expecting, our week i would say about 70% were dressed up at least one half of the couple. ( like us lol)

    3. as for the age i would say average was in the 40's but you had those who were 22 and there were couples in the 60+ range, and to be honest the ones we seen 60+ were the ones dancing the most, they have been thru it all and just don't care, and that's awesome to have the mental state when your around younger people, we are 33 and 31 ourselves we met a couple that was 38,39 and we all went to dinner, another night we met another couple 27-28 and we all went for dinner together, and other nights again we met more people ranging in age, we dont care about age, a gentleman and his wife were sitting in our pool chair when we went to grab towels we never asked him to move and just grabbed out towel and he said it was his 50 birthday, that night 6 of us grabbed shots and did a shot with him and his wife, they wanted to party and have a blast, so they fit right in with us, age is only a number on a plastic or paper card!

    4. cant speak for spring break im sure a few others have alot of experience that will help with that, but im sure thats when you might find more singles and "party goers" but that being said its the time of year so any resort unless you go to the higher end adults only/ couples ones you will find spring breakers.

    5. as for single men and women it can go both ways there was more women groups then single guys/ groups. it will really be just timing unless its a special event that draws more singles. ( singles week ) we met a couple single guys, one was a little pushy but quickly realized it wasnt going to happen and moved on and another one asked polite to have a drink with us, and asked again after the drink if we didn't want him at the table anymore, that shows respect, again this question could be a hit or miss on what you get, some tried to hit on Karina while i went to the bathroom, and you will be amazed how many people will be looking out for you that you haven't even said hello too yet and kinda watch out, it was a great feeling after it happened once.

6.if your only doing 4-5 nights dont waste your time at another resort, i can promise you the party is great day and night and once you get settled you will be leaving. :( :(

    7. as for the hotel itself, we didnt get pressured even for a sales pitch, they knew we were new and they can feel people out pretty good and the girl at the front didnt even ask us after she explained where and what was going on this week, check in was a breeze, smooth and fast we arrived around 2pm at the resort took maybe 25 min, they asked for a $400 deposit for the room and will take any charges off at the end to us this wasn't a problem, at the end of the trip, they took off the room service bills and we purchased a bottle of vodka extra at the pool party in the cabana, ( this is becoming standard practice at most adult plus resorts, they sell cabanas and bottle service at a fee ) some will say its TTR but this is the change most places are doing. there is a little extra perks for the member people but our style of vacation doesn't require it and thats cool with us no issues with the credit card getting charged for the proper amount, the front desk girls we had were awesome, professional, and giggly when they and karina chatted in spanish, im assuming they were just saying how handsome i was ;) clearly understandable

8 we did go on the Boob Cruise it was fun, drinks were plenty full, they tried to get everyone involved and just having a good time, they were all also respectful but come with a open mind about the jokes, some say they can be harsh but its all in good fun! its a party boat, we wont go on it again unless we have someone coming with us that wants to try it, dont get us wrong it was a lot fun, but we had the experience and that was good enough for us that's just our style we have done party boats in many countries and only do it once.

    9. as for the food we thought it was great, we did the hibachi one the Italian one ( twice ) and buffet couple and sea flirt, speaking for the food i though it was great, it isnt going to blow your mind away but is the taste and quality good absolutely, and im speaking from as a person that uses his smoker 3 times a week in the summer months and still pulls it in the winter and still uses it from the garage, we had friends stay at breathless a week before we went down to TTR and thier hibachi didnt even have octopus but TTR did, yummmy

10 . the drinks i felt were correct if i asked for a strong rum and coke you could tell there was more rum then coke, now i request rum from Nicaragua when i found it on the display at the bar surprised that they had it there was no extra fee for using that rum, Karina felt tispy after maybe 1 or 2 extra drinks then her normal self but we also pump water into your body and sweat a little more in Cancun then we would drinking in the cold blizzard part of Canada we live, as for me i am a serious experienced drinker so on vacation mode i want only a few hours of sleep and rum rum rum.

    11. we tip well and it shows im not saying you should break the bank but we normally shoot a good tip at the start then back off see how it goes and then again near the end, at bash our table waitress i couldn't find, i went into another waitress section i asked for drinks she explained she could deliver to my table but could grab from her in her area, i agreed i gave her 20$ usd on the first run she watched my table the whole night and when we would be down to our last drinks she would grab more and wink at me, so i would come get them. she recieved another good tip at the end of the night, but i try and tip everyone not just servers, our housekeeper was amazing during the week she maybe recieved around 80$ and karina gave her brand new lipsticks and nail polish, also i dont like to forget about the people that are missed the most, the mens bathroom was always spotless i also didnt the women that was always cleaning it near mid bash time frame always was mopping and wiping the sinks down she received multiple tips from me

12 closing arguments, people there in the life or not arent pushy for 99% you will make friends with swingers every day and most people just feel each other out by chatting, you will meet people that are just there for the party and costumes, if your open to engage in conversion you will make friends with just about anybody there with no requirements of anything but just being your self, but that was our first trip and we are getting ready for may 21-28 as our second trip, we dont want a beach and no life vacation we love the party and this resort nailed it for us. it is pricey but stay somewhere else and be disappointed and or cost of going out a few nights will out weight what TTR cost. WE ARE HOOKED and we didnt do any upgrades, the party is only be as good as you want it too be,

My what great answers to their questions and many that I have. My wife and I are going Feb. 12 - Feb. 17 for our first trip. We have another couple that are going for their first time with us as well. We are very excited and also nervous as well. We all range from 50-55 years of age but still like to party. We have been buying costumes for several months and feel we are ready. As we are a little older, I hope we can hang with the younger crowd. We are excited about the Super Bowl party going on the 13th and also are booked on the Boob Cruise the 14h. As for the life style, we have never been a part of that at home but have mentioned it to each other in brief conversation as to what we would do if we are approached. I think at TTR and alcohol, who knows. My wife does like to flirt so we will see. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Hopefully we will enjoy our time there.

You sound like exactly the type of people that would LOVE Temptations like many of us do, and the type of people we love to hang out with!

I wouldn't say the age mix or the party changes that much by day of the week. The weekends are likely a bit busier, but I think you will have fun any day you are there...I would say do what fits your schedule and budget.

We have been in Feb, Mar, and late April. Had a lot of fun each time. There was a TRYST takeover group the last time we went. We still had fun, but probably would avoid this again in the future. Nothing wrong with the group at all, nice people, just that they had their own parties and things so you can feel a little left out for the rest of the people there.

I would stay more than 2 days, especially your first time...it will take at least a day or two to get in the vibe your first time. We usually do 4 nights and that is enough for us.

In our 3 visits to the hotel, we have not experienced any of the scammy things that you mention. Front desk/checkin experience has always been very straightforward for us. The premium upsell has not been too bad either, we just politely tell them no about 6-8 times and they have seemed to leave us alone. I would say your comment about Carnival food holds for Temptations as well. "Not quite as good, but still good"

The drinks are much better than you fear. You are not going to get Grey Goose and Petron, but you will get Skyy, Absolut, etc. I don't remember the tequila's but they certainly have a couple nice mid-grade 100% agave, silver or reposado. Bacardi, Captain Morgan also if I recall. They make good blended drinks as well. From my experience they don't mix the drinks very strong as standard practice, probably a good idea as people are drinking all day. On the other hand if I asked for a strong drink and tipped even moderately I have always recieved. No problem getting shots as well...

We have actually not found that many single guys at Temptations. Liane loves to flirt and probably wishes there were a few more...especially taller guys :) I can't promise you won't get an interaction like you describe, but I wouldn't think it would be more than once during your stay. Security is also pretty good, if someone is hounding/gawking I would imagine one mention to security should get a warning given and a watchful eye kept. Most couple at Temptations will not put up with this either and can help run interference.

All in all from what I can tell you will have a blast and seem like fun...we hope to meet you there one of these times!

Really the only way to know if TTR fits is to go and experience it..... we've visited 8 times, some 7 days durations, others 14.... a lot of nights and we party every time, immerse ourselves in the theme night, foam and day party... food's fine, everybody has different expectations, we've never found a fault (well, apart from the D.J...). As for cruises, our experience is somewhat different from your own, including Caribbean, who I would personally not touch again, customer service and restaurant experiences were awful, TTR staff are happy your there, whether you give them a tip on not. I recently asked several cruise lines how many of your staff & crew are unvaccinated, well they wanted me vaccinated..... but wouldn't answer my question.... try the Boob Cruise, you'll view other cruises in a different light after meeting Steve, Omar, Sarah 69 and Chino and just forget about age, it's the party and the people that matters and going purely to enjoy yourselves.... try it, may change your life, it did ours !!!, bet no cruise has ever done that

Our experience before we booked, read all the reviews (if they aren’t story book long lol) gather as much information as possible and roll the dice. Life is a gamble anyway. We’ve been 4 times now and had a great time with every trip. We are half a century old and can party with ones our kids age and those that are our parents age. To us it more who you are and what you bring to the table. We’ve never felt unsafe or been badgered, on every trip the wife is always hit on, hit on as a couple and on this last trip I guess the women all got brave and I was hit on numerous times. If you aren’t into that thing a polite “no thanks” and a compliment to them has always worked for us. No matter where you go or what you do there will always be a minor down side at some point bc that’s just the world we live in. Overall we have enjoyed it and I’m not sure I could ever go back to a “normal” adults only resort and have the fun I have had at TTR. Just our humble opinion.

"Some reviews claim that its mostly people 50-60 while others claim there's more 30-40."

A: That depends on the time of year and each trip is different. The crowd has seemed to get younger post the 2017 renovation. Overall I'd estimate the average guest age is between 28-45 for most times of year, but there are always outliers. Sometimes a group of early 20-somethings are there, at others a group of 30-year vets of TTR are there and that'd be averages in the lower 60s.

" Some reviews say there are no people under 30, but other reviews say there are."

A: People under 30 are usually outliers, but they do show up.

"Likewise, most reviews say there are single people - but what about single women? There's no shortage of single men in this world."

A: Seems like there's more single guys going to TTR than single women, but they Do show up. Usually small groups, like pairs of girfriends out for a lark, like that.

"Does the day of the week correlate with the crowd?"

A: Not so much, no. Getting into Cancun isn't like driving across the state to go somewhere for the weekend, so the marjority of folks are there for a week-ish, so there's always overlap from weekends to weekdays.

"Would it be better to do sun-mon-tues-weds to save big on the booking cost or are the best days really Friday / Saturday night for us and a better age mix?"

A: Again, really not so much. It varies witht he individual trips, but it's not predictable in the sense you're driving at, like a Vegas weekend vs. a Vegas weekday visit.

"Is spring break a BAD time to go?"

A: Nope. A good time, except flight prices are up. Spring Breakers don't go to TTR as a general rule. Every once in a while there'll be an adventuresome soul, but mostly not.

"Are off months a boring time to go?"

A: Define "off months," and off months to who? The only months we've not had a trip to TTR is December-January. All 10 other months we've had kick ass trips and met lots of great people.

"Does it make sense to stay at a nice beach and do excursions for a few days, and then stay at Temptation the next few days?"

A: To me, no. It does not. To you, it might, I'm not you.

"I worry that if we only stayed 2 of the days we might not really get comfortable enough to enjoy the whole experience."

A: Correct. The firs ttime, it might take the two of you about 4, perhaps 5 days to really relax and enjoy what's up at TTR. It's not "threaten8ing" it's just different.

"There are a lot of reviews that would suggest this resort is an outright scam from the moment you step in. I'm not speaking of just the premium upsell, but rooms double booked, forced into upgrades, guests being charged for things they didn't receive, added costs to leave the hotel and return etc. This is all worrisome."

A: After 31 trips I can tell you that we've never had any of that happen to us, and haven't heard of any Real people having those problems. I do know that one of our couple-friends got to TTR one time and they were running "short" on bookings at TTR, so the company offered to put them up over at Desire Pearl at no additional cost, so off they went. At that time Pearl was a bit more than twice the price of TTR. That is the closest thing to something in your list happening to anyone we know... and we know a Lot of people who've been to TTR.

"There are many trip advisor reviews that blatantly claim the "food sucks." but there or other reviews that say the restaurants are really good. For the cost of this resort (which is like, 2 or 3 cruises) food that "sucks" isn't going to work. There are also many posts that the alcohol is largely well and watered down."

A: The food has been steadily getting better as we've been going (since 2007). Watered-down drinks are a problem when you are paying for each drink individually... not when you can just ask for more, like asking the bartender, "Hey man, can I get a vodka floater on this here daquiri? Thanks!"

"We are avid cruisers and we understand reviews can be subjective. We also understand that if you pay for an RC cruise, your bed is going to be made 2 times a day, the food will be amazing and every bartender has a smile. You just won't see many younger couples - mostly families and old people. Its still good though. We're capable of accepting what is, and what isn't."

A: We've been on both RC and Carnival cruises and agree totally. Temptation is at least 5 times more fun than the most fun cruise you've ever been on... unless you've been on the Temptation cruise, then it's only two and a half times as much fun as that one.

"At the same time, we know what 'included alcohol' can look like in places like Cozumel. We've been to bars who's kitchen is awful and people still post "GOOD FOOD!" on the google reviews so who knows?"

A: If you're wife is a tequila snob, like mine is, she can get Casamigos and Don Julio Silver for shooting, that's always to hand down there. They often have a local one called 100 Annos, which is surprisingly great. Vodka snobbery is harder to handle as people drink up the Gray Goose and Kettle One pretty quick somedays... but, even this can be combated by grabbing a couple bottles of exactly what it is that is your precise libation on the way "in" to the resort (for me, I get Elijah Craig, single barrel and bring that and keep it intthe room, bring it down to the bar, to put behind the bar for my drinking only and Yes, they do that).

"About once a month at local bars, some random single guy will me if he can sleep with my wife. It is annoying. We know we'd have to be more open minded at a resort like this and may be approached a lot, but how aggressive and pushy can people be? Is this kind of hounding going to happen 2 or 3 times a day? This is very different from the flattery of getting hit on (well, how would I know lol)[/QUOTE]"

A: Where do you live so I can avoid going there? My wife is uber-hot and we've Never had that sort of over the top attack take place. People might come up and ask if you've been into any LS things/situations, but if you just say it's not for you they'll move on. Easy-peasy.
