We have been watching the storm also. It looks like Cancun is on the northern edge of it so hopefully the impact will be minimal. The forecast on weather.com always shows a chance of rain for Cancun so we pay no attention to it. However wunderground.com usually has good info. We are keeping our fingers crossed! Supposed to fly in on Wednesday!

    Cancun
WEATHER UPDATE: Tropical storm Rina is located south-east of the Yucatan Peninsula, right by the coast of Honduras. The storm is moving slowly and it is expected to start affecting the coast of Quintana Roo (Cancun & Riviera Maya) by Thursday. There is NOTHING to worry about, just wind & rain during the weekend.

wind and rain will close most everything in the resort down, including the pool areas - it actually is a big deal. if your room floods and they can't move you, that is also kind of a big deal. further, there will be limited food options during the day and the only place to hang out will be Nice Shoes or the buffet.

People can certainly make lemonade out of lemons - but if you are going to TTR for fun at the sexy pool, that is NOT going to happen if the weather is anything like it was our first two days last weekend! It also took them 4 days to clean up the beach after the storm last weekend. The only day it looked normal was the day we left, there were huge piles of seaweed all over, it was kind of gross.

This is not the resort's fault, it is what it is, but in my opinion it is pretty darn miserable to be there in a tropical storm because they don't have the ability to handle large groups indoors at that resort, and when you can't go outside a lot of the entrances to places are unavailable so it is hard to get around.

Don't even get me started on the dangerous conditions just trying to walk on slippery tile!

We still had fun, but we sincerely wish the weather had been better since we live where it rains all the f*cking time (and it had been raining here in Seattle for 3.5 weeks non-stop before our trip!) :icon_neutral:

the dripping sound you hear is the water dripping into our room through the sliding door - and the water you see on the floor is 10 minutes after the 2nd time housekeeping crew came in to clean it up - when we woke up there was an inch of cold water all over the room and bathroom! Our couch was also soaking wet from being next to the window and having rain blow into it all night, even though the door was closed as tight as we could shut it.
