Ok, so we arrive in Cancun next Tuesday (woohoo 9 days). Weather forecast shows 60% of rain all day and temp of 80. Great compared to the 7 degrees right now in Minnesnowta. But, what happens if it rains all day one day? Does it sometimes rain for days at a time? Just wondering what we can expect on a rainy day as far as fun stuff. What does it affect and what continues to go on? Thanks!
Last time we went to TTR was around the same time of the year. The weather showed mixed rain most of the time in the "forecast". In reality it only rained 2 days, and during those two days it actually only rained maybe 2 hours combined. The rest of the days were 100deg and sun, the rain was actually a nice break and everyone in the sexy pool laughed and cheered when it rained one of them times for about 10mins then the sun came out and more shots were ordered. Being right on the ocean weather is variable, unless a major system (remnants of a hurricane or tropical depression) is coming in off the ocean I can't imagine it raining for days on end without break.
We were there last June, and there were some rainy days. During the light rains the party never left the pool. The pool area did clear out during a pretty good thunderstorm one afternoon, which wasn't a problem, we need up in a jacuzzi. LOL Tom & Lorie
Appreciate all the responses. I assumed as much about the partying continuing but just wanted to make sure. I mean, I guess if it rained really bad we could move the party to our room for Twister and taste testing whipped cream
We found the temperature part of the forecast is reasonably accurate. 100 degrees this time of year would be really unusual. Low 80s is more on average. 60% rain usually means 60% chance at some point during the day. Could be for ten minutes, 2 hours or all day or not at all. We went twice in feb and each time had one full day rainout (no one in the pool as temp was 60s), one part day rain and the rest no rain. Most people hung out in the sports bar the bad day. Still good times.
In Jan 2011 the weather was pants for 3 whole days, it was freezing (joggers and hoodies on - not sexy!) and it rained, and rained, and rained. The sport's bar was pants, the bar wasn't open, you had to brave the elements and go to the sexy pool bar if you wanted a drink. There's only so many games of pool you can play, and even channel 12 was getting boring! Fortunately this was very unusual, so just pray to the sun gods, a little rain is fine and is what keeps the Caribbean green and lush. :daisy:
During our stay last year which was at the end of January, the forecast showed rain 3 out of the 6 days we were there. It actually only rained for maybe an hour or two. Very similar to the non snow events here in the Twin Cities lately.
Jan 2012 (Desire) weather was perfect, every day, no rain, loads of sunshine (best tan yet!! no strap marks) :daisy:
