August is the hottest month of the year but it never really gets much above 95 or so in Cancun, certainly not 106 like some of those in the US were recently experiencing. It is very humid though and that can make it feel very warm. In August there is also a risk of a hurricane, but they are not likely to be as severe or frequent as in September and especially October. However, you should remember that hurricanes that affect Cancun significantly are rare, just 2 in the last 30 years. While in any typical August hurricanes do form annually they are often a long way from Cancun and have little to no affect at all.
