First time Cancunners here so needing reassurance, but looking at the Forecast, over the next 10 days is scary with RAIN....60%.... Is Cancun like Florida, where yes it rains daily, but its just hits, rains, then leaves to magnificant sunshine....Someone please reassure us or give us a heads up!!!! We leave in 10 days!!!!
Check out Steve's reply in another post: http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/temptation-resort-cancun/23775-weather.html We have never been rained out any significant amount of time any trip we have been on. Things should be awesome!!!
Never ever look at a weather forecast for Cancun unless there is a hurricane headed straight for it. You will not be rained out by any stretch of the imagination. I will tell you what there is a 60-percent chance of....and that is a 9-minute long rain at 8:30am, don't worry.
I agree with the previous responses...The only real time to be concerned about the weather is when a hurricane is headed to Cancun...Never have I seen a complete rainout or any of those forecasts prove to be very accurate. Plus keep in mind partly cloudy ALSO means Partly sunny as well.:clappyinghappy: Have Fun.
Seriously though, that pic was in March when it is usually very dry. You can get rain at this time of year but it's unlikely to spoil your whole day. Hurricane season started June 1st so we are 6 weeks in and not a sniff of anything. I read something the other day about unusual conditions in the Sahara preventing hurricane formation (they normally start off the West Coast of Africa). Let's hope it continues.
I'll got a bit further than Steve, although his post pretty much covers things. In two weeks, we'll be on our 7th trip to Cancun in 26 years. Because Cancun lives in an interesting climate - part oceanic climate, part rainforest, etc. the weather is pretty variable. That said, it rains almost EVERY summer day INLAND - that 60% forecast is for Cancun city, which is almost never valid out in the hotel zone. The two times we've been to Riviera Maya, it rained more frequently - that's because those resorts are on the beaches of the Yucatan "mainland" - but again, only passing thundershowers, and then it would be over. On one trip, it rained 4 after noons out of 7. We passed every one of those rains by making whoopie up on our balcony - we had a nice secluded spot that was exposed to the rain. You haven't lived until ... umm, I digress. Last year, there was one entire day that it rained due to a tropical storm. And that was the most fun day on the resort that we had. Everyone was bananas - just hanging in the pool enjoying the warm rain and drinking ourselves silly. Have to say that was the most nudity/toplessness I've ever seen in the sexy pool and around the pool decks and such. It was awesome. So, don't sweat the weather. If it rains a bit, take your clothes off and enjoy it!
it was in USA TODAY (today) El Nino. when its a El Nino year like it looks like it will be this year it reduces tropical storms and hurricanes up to 80% in atlantic . something about the warm winds stopping the formation of the storm systems. last el nino was 2009
i actually think nov. 2009 was when we went to TTR for our first time and good ole t storm ida was going by. first full day of our trip the place was all put away. was a little dissapointed, but the bars, food, nice shoes were in full swing!! danced many a night away in nice shoes until 3am at least!!!! so its all good vac. is vac so unless its really bad weather fun is still to be had aplenty!!! one can always hope for the best, and well sometimes you have to make the best of it!! cant wait comon sept!!
If it rains, figure out something to keep you occupied inside like backgammon or various forms of poker or Twister.
