We heard about room deals.... any deals with airlines?

Hello all!!

My question is in regards to airfare. We do not fly much so I do not know if from here till June I should expect any sales or prices to drop for airlines. In your experience, do airlines have sales or are their prices just unpredictable?

We are really excited to return to TTR June 2013 (8th - 22nd).
These are the exact dates that we have open to go as it is from the day after school lets out to a couple days before I will teach summer school. We did 14 days last time and loved it!


We live 2 hours away from Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Cleveland. We are even 3 hrs away from Toronto. Last to times we drove to PIT and flew from there with 1 stop both ways. Having to drive back 2 hours after a 7 hr delay was painful however.

We really want a direct flight and Cleveland is the only airport with a direct round trip with United Airlines for $1295 total for 2 people (last two times from PIT w/ 1 stop we paid under $1000 total).

Any of you travel with United?
Do airlines have coupon codes ever?
Should we book now or wait?
Any of you fly direct from Toronto?
Are there any certain sites that are actual cheaper? (looked at about 10 different sites an all were $1295 for the same particular flight). (Orbits, travelocity, expedia, hotwire, priceline, hotwire etc)

(Booking hotel and flight together is not an option as we have the 1st week already booked via TTR contest)

For $1156, that is not a bad deal when you consider a non-stop flight to Cancun. Those prices were at cheapoair.com

 

Thank you for your input. Yes flight from CLE I was looking at was non stop both ways. I checked chepoair and roundtrip non stop is $1305 so only $10 more.

Do airlines usually add more flights or are schedules 6 months in advance pretty set?

try calling travelcity directly cause they show a huge discount when you book both,, so maybe by booking your second week they will give you that discount .

the web sire wont let you do it but they may be able to do it manually ???

 

Westjet (Westjet.com) flys direct no stops between Toronto and Cancun every day. Their current price for the dates you are looking for is $1184.12 CAD for two(all taxes and fees included). We used them twice last year and have already booked with them for 2013.

They do have seat sales on regularly so just keep checking.

 

I talked to them but it is not possible to do it that way. I checked anyways to see how 2 week at hotel plus flight would be.

I set up a package for 2 weeks to TTR with the non stop flight which once I calculated put the room at 1150 a week for 2 people. I can still get the one week at clever-hotels for $878 so booking separately makes sense.

 

Thank you for the info - are seat sales just regular sales where you can pick your own seats next to each other or are they selling the leftover scattered seats in the plane? (Do not do well in planes - need my partner next to me

 

The seat sales are just time limited sales, don't have anything to do with scattered seats - lol. For our Sept 2012 trip, I was able to get it on a seat sale and the cost was $876.38 CAD for two(including all taxes and fees) direct non stop both ways Toronto > Cancun

 

We have been watching the direct flights from Cleveland for a few months now for our trip in January, and they have remained steady at $545-$555 the entire time. That is $1100 for the 2 of us, so we ended up getting the best price with a package deal through Expedia. I think it's worth it to pay a little more for direct flights, and the flights to and from CLE are perfect times, leave here at 8:30, in CUN at 11:30. Depart CUN at 12:20 p.m. Dealing with immigration upon return to the USA and then having to board another flight to get home is a pain in the ass.
