Ok I need some advice. I would like to buy a nice waterproof camera for our trip that will take underwater pics that I wont have to worry about having by the pool or beach. Does anyone have any recommendations about what kind to get that have one or have researched them? Thanks in advance. :)

I found alot on Ebay and ended up getting one for 12 bucks. It was decent, worked well with water and I wasn't all that worried about it breaking. It wasn't a super high resolution one but for what it was it got the job done.

Last time i went i had one similar to this one:

FinePix XP10 digital camera | Fujifilm Canada

I had the previous generation of that camera but it worked great. The ex took it with her (or its just lost), which is the only reason why i'm buying a new camera. This one was pretty cheap ... not $12 cheap though

The Olympus (stylus tough 6020) would be a good choice. We bought one a couple years ago and love it..

I got the Olympus 770 and have loved it. Good to 100 feet if you take it scubaing or snorkling, easy to use around the pool as it's basically point and shoot, has video capability. fits in a shirt pocket. Easy on the budget. Somewhere between $200 - $350.

K I have had three Olmypus and one Fiji. I like them all but hey one got lost in the ocean, two got water in them, dried them out and they kept ticking and the last one also drowned in Cancun and didn't come back. Lol I have ot say that the camera hangs with me at all times in the water. Waterproof yes, but not Monique invincible. Lol the Fiji never came back. I now have anotherr Olympus camera to bring in April.

We bought a Kodak C123 12MP camera to bring with us and for the price (£50, so about US$75) it was exactly what we needed. Picture quality is pretty good (all of the TTR pics in my wife Trish's album were taken with it) and we can testify that it is waterproof as we took it snorkelling when we went to Xel Ha. Does have a few downsides since it only has a digital zoom so not a fantastic range but for general poolside antics it worked a treat. One other thing we noticed about it was that if the temperature dropped suddenly (i.e. you went from a hot outdoors temp and dunked it underwater) the lens fogged a bit and took a few minutes to equalise the temperature.
You could probably get a much better quality camera, but you'd pay quite a hefty price for it. As it was we got some great pics and if it had gotten damaged or lost...f*ck it, it was only £50!

    Olympus Tough series.
All around good camera.Had good reviews.Mine works great.
Most under water cameras will not be good for night time photography on land.
The under water range of these (all) is very limited. You won't get shots like you see on the internet. If there's any suspended particle in the water (silt) the flash will bounce back to the camera and ruin the shot. They are great by the pool and beach, nothing at TTR beach /ocean to photograph under water btw.
Stick with any name brand and you should be fine.
Some department stores offer extended warranties, I,m not a big fan of them but this is one item that's worth looking at.
If you going to go snorkeling you may want to get a floating strap, some of the reefs are pretty deep.
