This may be a stupid question but I'm curious. Normally while traveling in Mexico we only drink bottled water. I'm assuming ice is filtered water in our drinks.
We plan on drinking more this trip so we went to make sure to drink water in between drinks. Carrying bottled water all day would get tiresome and yucky with it getting hot. So...

Do the bars/restaurants serve water there? Is it bottled? Filtered?

I must have picky stomach, cause I've been sick 4 out of our 6 trips to cancun before and I'm a little nervous. I've started taking probiotics last week to prep for our trip, and of course packed tons of hand sanitizer. Any other advice? Im thinking it has to be the fruit or veggies or something, but idk. I'm hoping to have no problems this time.

The water is filtered. You only get bottled water in your room or if you are a premier member at the bar. We left the maid a $5 tip the first day with a note that said dos aquas por favor and she left us 3 bottles every day. We took powdered Gatorade and mixed a bottle every morning drank that before starting with alcohol. You can also take a bubba mug just for water to keep it cool at the pool

We have never had any issues with the water/ice at the hotel. Like note above, it's filtered.

Not sure if it was the water, food or drinking but last year by day 3 it was not nice. I could not be to far from a toilet for the next 7 days.

Never had an issue yet, but there's always a chance. The water is filtered, more likely any problems would come from an unwashed fresh veggie?

Dnlb is right on the money. Most likely it will be from fresh food and not the water. I have a pretty picky stomach too. I have been there 6 times. Once I had a day or two of issues after I returned and this past trip I caught something on day 6 but managed to be back drinking and eating the next night after ingesting a few of the other blue pills.... The rest of the time no issues and my wife has never had issues so I think the water is probably pretty good

All water used at the hotel is processed through their on-site water filtration system. So it will be parasite free.

One thing that every traveler knows is that any local water has different tastes to it, so it may not taste like home.

But if you somehow become ill it is probably, too much food, drink, sun, sex, or any of a number of other things, but not the water. :)

I was told the tap water isn't good for drinking. Washing and brushing your teeth is ok. I was told never to eat open fruits or veggies (salads) or sushi. Only eat fruits with removable skins (bananas) Always start your lunch and dinner with soup as it coats your stomach and because it is boiled it helps with any illnesses. I've followed this advise my last 3 visits and feel it has worked for me. We've also asked for additional bottle water each day and it's alway been given.
