At the resort, no problems with the ice and water. The water from the taps in your room is pottable but too chlorinated for my liking, so we drink bottled water. I'd be on the cautious side outside the resort though.

I have never had any problems anywhere in Cancun, but that does not mean that I am going to quit being careful. I am not sure where to draw the line with the roadside food stands, and the smaller bars and cantinas on Isla Majeres.

I'm a little scared to answer this question it may jinks us. We have yet to have any stomach problems when going to mexico. We have bought tacos out of the back of a van, and ohhh man were they could,( Lalo said it was ok). When outside the resort we drink bottled waters and ice is in every drink we get at a bar. Most of these places filter their water like they do here in the states. That doesn't mean that you can't get sick, some people's body have trouble dealing with changes of diet. The clorine used could be different than that used in your home state. But otherwise it is safe.

The only stomach problems we had, we contributed to the amount of booze we drank. If i remember right the resort has its own filtration system, I think there used to be a sticker in the rooms that said something to that effect.

We have been to Mexico 5 times and were sick, twice for a day each. Each time it was due to drinking too much and 1) going nuts on foods I never ate before, 2) a fresh Nacho fest, and I mean fest, I couldn’t stop eating them in the bar.

Wash your hands a lot (we use sanitizer) and drink the bottle water. All I drink is mixed drinks and never had a problem with ice.

    relief

I was worried about the water also. My honeymoon we went to Cozumel, but did NOT drink anything there because we got off a cruise ship. But I will be very careful about what I ingest into my system in Cancun. Hi Mike...Thanks for all the information...Veteran...LOL. Have not went to Publix as of yet.
