Hiya, Been looking at reviews for the hotel we are staying at (Barcelo Costa) and was reading through bits and pieces and noticed X4 people had their cards cloned when they had used their cards in the hotel lobby ATM, only really noticed on their arrival home that amounts exceeding $900 in one case. Did some more digging and noticed that High street ATM's and more than 3 hotels (Also mentioned on here) that possibly hotel staff are cloning peoples cards..... Tad worrying seeing as most wont find out until after your holiday.... Anyone else heard of this or is this an isolated thing...i know it can happen anywhere but if thats the case im leaving my wallet and cards at home and taking a crappy wallet with just cash in Anyone else have any info or knowledge on the above :flaguk:Cheers!
The best for security and exchange value is : - Only use ATMs provided by a bank and get pesos out of it. There are dozens of ATMs/Banks in the HZ. There you also get usually the best exchange rate. - Take some Dollars for the first night/day with you - Pay everything cash
Fraud happens every where, just be on point and don't let card out of site better yet order currency online and get it delivered or go to a marks and spencers that do bureau de change as they do good rates. I always take cash.
You can also order currency via Travelex and pick up at the airport. Travelex usually have the best rates, but the main plus point for me is that it's one less thing I have to worry about forgetting at home. Just have to check in and then collect my currency.
I ordered from satander and got 18.1 pesos per pound. As long as you have ordered in advance you will get a good rate.
