Maybe 10 minutes by cab..20 by bus...worth it if you need to pick up a few things...or a bottle...or smokes...
If you are planning to stop at Wal-Mart in Cancun, your best bet would be to book an airport transfer with USA Transfers and add the Wal-Mart stop into your price. That way, you'll have everything you need as soon as you check-in and won't have to make another trip out there.
The prices and selection for booze was not worth the trip in my opinion. We would not do it again as a booze run.
I wouldnt waste the time or money either after doing it last year. If you want quality booze duty free at the airport is a good option.
TTR has mostly generic brand alcohol, although there are some recognizable bottles (i.e. Bacardi White Rum). Some who have a specific preference (i.e. Crown Royal) will take a run to Walmart to buy and keep a bottle or two stashed in their room. We've never done it, but we're considering it this time to pick up a bottle of spiced rum. They don't have it at the resort at last check.
