Hi, Was wondering if it is better to take a cab back from walmart with shopping bags then get back on a bus with them? Also is it safe to walk around that area/anything else close by we should check out? Thanks!
I actually have never been to the Walmart, but I have taken the bus down there many times. It is defiantly safe and I don't think it would be a problem with your bags. If you are unsure where to get off, just tell the driver when you get on where you are going, and they will try to help you out. Again, as far as it being safe, the bus is mostly filled with workers from the resorts. So if you are afraid short Mexican hotel worker, beware! (It isn't like riding an inner-city bus at 1am). It can just be a bit crowded though, depending on the time of day.
We went to Walmart during the daytime. We felt safe and the Walmart is not far from the bus stop. The only strange thing that happened was when we were leaving, one gentleman approached us and wanted to show us a great gift store. We followed him for about a block to this gift store. I think he was making money for every person he would bring there. Our experience with the vendors is that they were very pushy, to the point of irritating us.
What did you need from WalMart? Is the trip worth it is the big thing? There are multiple stores in the Hotel Zone and one across the street from the street from TTR. We have said both years we needed to go to WalMart but never did and usually ended up only needing sunscreen.
If you are using USA Transfers for your transport, they have an option for a Walmart stop on the way for a little extra $$.
We stopped at the "Wal-Mart" using USA Transfers on our first trip. Total waste of time and money. We considered it a tourist trap. Prices were high and there were no locals shopping there. Won't be doing that again.
Has anybody bought Budweiser from the little convenience store out front of TTR? If so, how much was it? How are their prices for snacks?
If U go by bus ..it will be easy , ask the front desk in the lobby which bus to take...they will tell U ... Try to go in the middle of the day. Avoid change of shifts from local workers. The bus will be packed if your time is off, but other than that it is easy. Ask the driver. He will point out where to get out. Cross the street and keep waking and U will see Walmart. Returning, just come out and go to the left ...any bus will take U to the hotel. Tell the driver Temptation resort and he will tell U when to get off... Just do not buy too much when there , we take a carry on suitcase and load up on trinkets to take back home.
Hmm that's strange. They stop at Superama which is owned by Walmart but a smaller version of the mega stores. The one they stop at is 5 mins from our house and we go there several times a week. Lots of locals shop there.
