Hello, What is the Taxi fare from Temptation to Hard Rock Cafe? Would it be safe to go out and explore on our own? I saw on the tour section of this site they have a 6 hour private city tour for $199. Is that worth it? Also does Temptation still go to the clubs each night or is it located all on resort now? If so what is the cost and is transportation included? Thanks!
Cost of a cab to the Hardrock will run you $10-15, using the cabs out front that will cost you more for anything. Taking the local bus will cost you a buck a piece. Is it safe to explore on your own? Like anyplace in the world, Cancun has places even the locals don't go on their own. But for the vast marjoity of places, you will be perfectly safe as long as you use common sense (Don't go alone, don't go someplace that doesn't feel right, stay out of dark alley's), the kind of things your mother taught you. Cancun was a sleepy little town before the developers came along 30 some years ago and started building hotels. It then exploded in size as workers from across Mexico came for jobs. As much as I love exploring old town Cancun and the one or two ruins that are around, I can't see a tour being worth $199 to see it. That being said, it is so worth it to get out of the hotel zone and visit some of the local markets, parks in old town at night, and some of the local clubs on Yaxchilan Avenue. The hotel still takes folks out every night to different bars in the Hotel Zone. You get transportation there and entrance into the club with open bar for about $45-$50 each. Transportation home is on your own when you decide you had enough fun or the bar closes. Again you can cab it home or take the local bus.
