1. I found drinks to be expensive in Vegas.. Take advantage of the drinks while playing games.. 2. Have no clue... 3. Roundtrip from The Excalibur Hotel to Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon & back was 700 and some odd miles... I think The Hoover Dam was about 40 minutes away from Vegas... 4. At The Excalibur, where I stayed, I would be easy to take extra people back to your room.. They never checked us.. 5. I think the cheapest I saw was $5 Hope I was of some help... If you want to see pics of my Vegas trip, they are in my webshots account.... I think the link is listed in my profile...
1. Yes...if you know where to go. Liquor stores on/near the strip tend to be expensive (15 bucks for a 12 pack can of bud light). Casino Royale on the strip has dollar beers and margaritas 24/7. Ellis Island (block from strip) also has dollar beers 24/7. Blondie's Sports Bar in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood has an all you can drink draft deal (10 bucks) for 2 hours (4 hours on wednesday) on weeknights. Don't try and buy a drink at places like the Venetian because a beer will run you around 7 bucks. 2. Made the trip from LA about 3 times. It all depends on traffic though. If the traffic is real bad you're looking at like 6 hours or more maybe. With no traffic problems it's like a 3 and a half to 4 hours. San Diego is more like a 5 hour drive from vegas without any traffic issues. 3. Hoover Dam is less than an hour away. Closest part of the grand canyon is a couple hours away. 4. Fairly easy as long as you don't tell anyone about it. Just have one person check in and ask for a couple extra keys and have the others wait somewhere else. I've never had a problem doing this, but some of the nicer places might give you some trouble. 5. All depends on what part of the week it is, what time of day it is, and what casino you're at. Some casino's (not on strip) have specials where they run dollar blackjack and quarter craps during certain hours on weekdays. Minimums on the weekdays are lower than on the weekends. Minimums in the wee hours of the morning tend to be lower also. Casinos on the strip have higher minimums than casinos downtown/off strip.
mate thankyou so much ... that information is gold! will have to print it out and put it in my planner! cheers tim

ahhhhh awesome! yeh ... its tough doing vegas on the cheap i imagine ... but i cant spend up big on alcohol and stuff with 8 months of travelling following it ... still cant wait to get loose on the cheap and be crazy!
Buy booze at a cheap off the strip liquor store. Then you can pre-drink before going out to save cash. You could even get a flask, then order a glass of your preferred mixer and make your own drinks. To hone your blackjack skills check out this site to practice - www.HitorStand.net have fun!
cheers mate ... thats probably not a bad idea ... just get a cooler or something and buy some booze and crank up some tunes in the room before we head out!
I just got back from Vegas last Thursdays. Drink in a club is $10 basically. Cover charge is about $30. If you want to go to a major club on the Saturday you're going to have to wait in a LONG queue or pay the boucer to skip it. In the big hotels black jack is $10/$15 minimum. Further up the strip you can get $5.
