Has anybody heard anything about this, that the IVA (VAT) in Cancun, is supposed to go from 10%, to 16%, as of Jan 1, 2010; or, is it just talk?
While we in Cancun pay a 10% VAT, the rest of Mexico pays 15%, so the idea of achieving parity isn't too far off base. I did a cursory check and couldn't find anything about this. Perhaps some of our more "business connected" members know something about this. Jim...are you out there?
Seems like I've heard a similar rumor for years... that the tax here would go up to the national average.... hasn't happened. yet.. so until I see it headlining the newspapers, I'll assume its the normal New Years rumors.... I would think they would start such an increase on the new fiscal year anyway which wouldn't be January 1st.
