We arrive tomorrow and were going to pay the extra $30 to USA Transfers to stop at Walmart (pick up energy shots, gatorade, etc). We had friends arrive today who did this option and informed us that it's not like a Walmart like we have in the states...more of a small grocery store. Does anyone have any info?
Not sure which Walmart that USA Transfers stops at, but we took the bus from TTR two weeks ago ($1 each way) and that Walmart is very similar to those in the US, except they also sell Motorcycles, ATV's and cigars. Not at all a small grocery store at that location.
We are doing the same thing and if it isnt the real deal and a true walmart then im goin to have a real problem with dishing out extra money and giving good tips...im under the impression that its,a big walmart in which u can get close to the same things as you can in the states.
If you are going to the Big Wal-mart across the street is a liquor store called La Europea if Steve hasn't bought off their supply of FIREBALL they should have it and a good selection. If you tell USA the Wal-mart by La Europea you should get to the right one.
We went to Wal-Mart down town Cancun. It was like a store in the states except the stores we have been in here do not sell liquor and appliances. Most of the stuff was the same. We also paid the dollar each way from TTR there and block 28 shopping district. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
Might want to also pickup suntan lotion/block if needed. Definitely cheaper than TTR gift shop, which averages like $30 bottle for Aussie Gold. The Walmart is not a "super" Walmart like some have in the States. It is a normal size with groceries and all the other stuff they have in the States. This is the cheapest place to buy souvenir shirts for kids. Also, maybe next time around...CanadaTransfers took us to Walmart for no extra charge. They also have cold beer/water/soda onboard.
We took USA Transfers in April and paid the $30 to stop at the "Walmart". Let's just say we won't waste our money doing that again. We found the prices were similar to if we had bought anywhere in the US or Canada. There was nothing we needed there that you couldn't get at the stores near TTR without paying the $30.
