Well its about that time. Leaving for Cabo with some friends in a few days from the Great White North. Should I bring US dollars? I know my bank doesn't really have Mexican pesos readily available. OR should I bring an ATM card to withdraw funds that way?

    Any recommendations? Thank you!

Best bet is a combination of pesos and US buy for most things pesos is the way to go. Avoid using your ATM card at all cost as as the fees are ridiculous, try to find a currency exchange, such as Calforex if possible much better rates then the bank.

Best bang for your dollar is to change canadian money into pesos right at your Canadian bank. But there are banks close to the resort if you want to use the ATM. The personal ATMs at the hotel and at bars can have a huge fee. We found that out the hard way a few years ago. We have never had a problem with either American or Canadian cash.

If you are planning on staying at the resort and not leaving, a little for tips in usd or peso's is fine. If you are going to be going off the resort much then you for sure save by using peso's if you get a decent exchange rate.
