Anyone tried lately to pay cash at check-in to upgrade from a Garden room to a Tower room? We are going the first week of July when I assume the resort is not at full capacity, so there should be Tower rooms available. We are staying on referral, and could not book a Tower room on referral. Just wondering if it is worth trying...
Trivago has about 20 different sites that advertise rooms at TTR. As of about 10 days ago, none of them are advertising a room in the BASH tower for most of July. The site was full of them a couple of weeks ago. The only rooms any of the sites have listed are trendy garden and trendy ocean. They might be looking at a pretty good census next month.
We upgraded from to a Lush Tower last trip. Loved it, got top floor, middle! Haggled a little bit and got a reasonable price for the week. Guess it would depend on what is available?
We went in April while it was sold out, it was towards the end of a takeover. We called ahead and they told us no tower rooms available. When we got there we paid $100/day to upgrade to tower but had to sit through the presentation. Honestly we were so drunk we didn’t haggle lol was well worth the upgrade though in the room service we got and free porn. We were going on a timeshare and had a garden view room.
Would be shocked if the Tower is really sold out in July. Possibly they have reduced the availability of the rooms during a typically slow period to do some work on them? They did that last year with the masters. But regardless Karen I would start with trying for $25 a night and finish my negotiating at $50 a night. If they have availability I would think they would take it.
Thanks, everyone! Sean doesn't give a rip about staying in the Tower, but I'm kind of an elitist, ocean view girl myself. But if it doesn't work out for this July, we at least have our Lush room booked for next April.
I agree with Kyle, Karen. It IS Mexico, and pretty much if it's there to be sold, the Mexican businessman or businesswoman will want to try to sell it. I've heard various outcomes (on here) about people attempting to haggle as Kyle said. Some folks get some good deals, other times the person refuses to budge on the price point. I'm sure there is a reason for that, but nobody's ever posted enough of the background/circumstantial info to discern a reason.
I have actually been having some luck via email prior to our arrival on this trip. May want to try that as well?
I've always thought about doing something like that, but we have always gone during Halloween, and they are pretty full at that time, and I doubt any deals can be made. So we always just book the room we want, and don't risk a Garden room. We would probably try during a less busy time.
