Upgrade room on arrival?

Anyone tried to do this and was it cost effective. We are going in June so the resort shouldn't be overbooked.

 

you will get different answers cause it depends who you get behind the counter a check in.

 

Yup its hit or miss... we got lucky last time we asked and got a great room for free..

Actually they told us it would be $50 more per night and we said no thanks... And somehow ended up with a killer jacuzzi suite anyway.

Last year we upgraded to a suite but it was a bit costly. This was the first time we ever upgraded. We originally paid for a garden view (never again) and they tried to put us looking at the road. Then they offered the Drops of Love package and we got a suite right on the beach. Loved the room, so it was worth the extra money.

But like everyone else said it is hit or miss. If you don't like your room you can always go back and ask another. They try to do whatever they can to please you.

 

Wondering what was quoted for an upgrade for those who asked?

 

That too will vary, negotiate with them.

 

Sounds like a pain to upgrade once you get there and expensive too.
